The reason the oil/gas failed is because investment in oil and gas has dropped causing the upkeep to fall off and be underprepared. The more rich people put into solar and wind the less they put into oil and gas and neither becomes sustainable.

I have heard that is part of it. Nothing I said contradicts that.

How much does this cost and is there any chance anyone would have ever done this in Texas in the first place? This is such a historic weather event for the state. Everyone pointing fingers ignores this

Why is Texas blaming AOC for their power outages? Shouldn't that be Ted Cruz, John Cornyn or their Governor Greg Abbott responsibility?

For the love of God man. 30% of North Dakota’s electricity comes from wind and the turbines operate in weather that makes this Texas storm look like a cool breeze.

North Dakota has 762k people. Texas has 29 million. So wind turbines create power for roughly 228,000 people in North Dakota. That isn't even 1% of Texas total population and power needs. You are not even close to comparing apples to apples and AOC is an idiot.

Guess you don’t realize Antarctica is considered a desert. Therefore ice doesn’t build up on those turbines preventing them from turning, no matter how cold it gets.

Also, a nuclear reactor in Texas was shut down for safety at literally the worst time in all of this.

It's working too

"Natural gas prices skyrocketing to 200 times normal levels." They are going to raise prices not only on gas but electricity as they use gas to operate.

quote:
U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall spoke to Kansas utility companies about the prices they’re having to pay to get the supply they need for customers. He’s trying to find out if there’s any price gouging going on and what it will ultimately mean for customers. He’s already seeking out possible federal aid.

“It certainly looks like a person’s natural gas bill or their electricity bill may double or triple for this month. It may cost as much to heat your house these past three days as it typically does in a month,” Marshall said.
...

Could it be to help accomplish their Agenda 2030? If prices skyrocket to the point of un-affordability, people would be forced into tiny apartments and chyna would continue to buy up the land.

Disagree. Trump was a loon at one time too. And he won.

Don’t fool yourself, the more this count is allowed on tv to spew her garbage, the more that garbage creeps into mainstream thought.

She, and anyone who believes as she does, must go.

This sums up what you want to know about power shortages in #Texas! Timeline matters. Researchers must start from Feb 9.
Have solar & wind failed? YES, starting Feb 9.

Have backup #natgas plants failed? Yes, starting Feb 14. Yet, Natgas generation still way higher than before

Obama’s 2011 Cross State Air Pollution Rule directly lead to this disaster. Three coal fired plants shut down in Texas over the last ten years because the required retrofits and new operating requirements (such as not being able to use the coal they were mining onsite and having to ship in cleaner coal from Wyoming) made them unprofitable. Therefore, they were closed.

This disaster is DIRECTLY caused by the policies pursued by the Obama Administration. If those three plants had still been operating, this doesn’t happen.

Yeah, and the Federal government imposes emission standards on power generators in Texas... AOC and those that think like her when it comes to energy generation are to blame for this mess, along with those that did not invest in winterizing their systems...

I can accept that wind turbines weren’t winterized if you say they weren’t.

But what makes you think the fossil plants weren’t “winterized”. Do you honestly think there are power plants that don’t winterize their exposed equipment? Do you know what the term “winterization” means? Do you know how it’s accomplished?

*ding* WHy would anyone invest in oil and gas when they are going away? (not really). Why would anyone invest in winterizing when globql warming means no more winters (not really) Remember... snow was supposed to be a rare event by now even in Northern lattitudes like the UK.

If you or anyone in your family were left to freeze in the dark for the last 2-3 days, SIGN AND SHARE THIS.

Somebody must be held responsible for this sudden emergency we were all unexpectedly forced to endure.

Now, they are trying to permanently raise our electric bills to cover for the cost of “lost power” — WE should not have to hold the bag for monopolies like ERCOT who hide behind private company clauses to avoid federal regulation. OUR taxpayer money should NOT be used to bailout billion dollar corporations who choose to line their pockets while we freeze & while people die.
