Been working from home since February, the last few weeks I've been binging The First 48 during work hours, have probably watched 50+ episodes
Take aways:
So many admit to crimes without asking for lawyers
Sentences for murders are way shorter than I could ever imagine
The crimes in Tulsa and other cities are all race appropriate stigma..Meth Oklahoma and Texas, Crack New Orleans and other predominantly black cities
Cops are really freaking good at their jobs
Communities are shite at taking care of themselves, and they don't care about murders in their neighborhoods
That is all

The guilty is the one that isn't being interviewed on the show.

I’m surprised this show is still around and hasn’t been canceled given it shows the actual problems facing the black community.
How many white supremacists were featured on the show?

90% of blacks under 60 years old are “aspiring rap artists”.

Cell phones always get them caught.

It's not just the stupid criminals. There's a youtube of a guy named Russell Williams being interviewed by a detective. He was a colonel in the Canadian Air Force, the prime minister's personal pilot. He was also a serial killer. He walked into the room thinking he had nothing to fear from this dumb cop. Two hours later, he was confessing to multiple murders. The guy used a combination of truthfulness, bluffing, and clever psychological manipulation to completely take him apart. Amazing to watch.

Plenty of tattooed white faces depending on city being filmed... however, majority of murders are what statistics show..there is no question the majority of violent crime is happening in low income communities.. Apartment complexes are murder central

The interrogator in that episode is also known to be the best of the best. Makes US interrogators look like children.

Cops are really freaking good at their jobs
Curious.

Clarification, homicide detectives..the interview guys, the guys finding clues..both women and men..the Memphis lady is awesome

To be fair, most crimes are pretty simple. The boyfriend did it, the guy the victim had a longstanding beef with did it, the broke guy who's now flashing hundred dollar bills around did it. The stranger who selects an unrelated victim is tougher to solve.

Have to agree on some of the sentences. They’ll have a video of a guy shooting someone and then at the ends show say he is now serving 15 years lol

I love the First 48. I've watched since day one.
Those detectives never cease to amaze me. Their dedication to the victims and their families is beyond admirable.
Slight sidebar: If y'all don't already know about a local retired Livingston Parish detective's podcast you should check it out.
Woody Overton has a Podcast(Real Life Real Crime) where he shares intimate details of some of the most fricked up cases he worked as a detective in Livingston Parish.
He does a good job explaining how detectives use various psychological tactics to legally 'get the juice' aka confessions from suspects.
And obviously, confessions make a DA's job exponentially easier. If you're from the area, you'll recognize a few of his cases.

Guaranteed those cops, if the roles were reversed would immediately lawyer up if they were looking at a sentence range of 40 years to life without parole with the charges those people in those rooms are facing.
It’s also amazing that these people are killing each other over someone giving the killer an awkward glare. They’re willing to throw their life away over what?

This is what blows me away watching the show
I’m never sad to see these guys get caught, of course, so I’m glad the average murderer is pretty dumb
But damn, the way they willingly incriminate themselves is insane to me
