When in college I worked for a GA Republican state senator. They were ecstatic in the mid 2000s because GA was going to get more electoral votes.

I kept telling them that my area was inundated w/ cars that had NY, PA, OH, MI tags. My employer was flooded w/ apps from blacks w/ those state addresses, often in the notes they stated "moving to Georgia."

People told me I was crazy when I said Democrats were pushing out their trash to the Sun Belt & it was going to bite us. Sometimes you don't want to be right.

GOP governors irresponsibly recruited, welcomed and gave tax goodies to all these liberal companies in worship of the almighty GDP and growth simply for the sake of growth.

They did it all without one single thought about what the demographic change would do to the political climate and the political values of the state.

It kills me every time I see Greg Abbott bragging about a tech company moving from California to Texas. I want to scream at him that those people are turning his state blue and he needs to fricking stop it.

How were they doing this?

There's just more opportunity in metro Atlanta than there is in NJ,NY or Illinois and I don't blame anyone who wants to improve their life but I do blame them for continuing to vote for the policies that turned those states into shite holes in the first place
