Texas would be the best place for it to hit, somewhere between Galveston and Corpus Christi or between Corpus Christi and Brownsville would be okay with me.

The models that were a week out had Katrina hitting the Pensacola area.

You guys get pretty worked up, about a hurricane that is a week away from any landfall.

Half of the computer models have it kicking our teeth out and you think we're over reacting. frick off you arse clown and the guy who's worried about practice, are you freaking kidding me???

I want all the games played too but that's way down the list of worries at this point. New Orleans will have mass flight and no one will come back this time.

even though i live in houston i would rather it turn this way than hit new orleans. not sure what kind of flooding i would have where i live though.

i would just hate to see new orleans get hit again.

plus, driving back to houston after the game would be a lot easier if people were not evacuating west.

If the models were in complete disagreement on Gustav's projected path, you might have a valid point. However, that is not the case here.

From national hurricane center

[quote]THERE REMAINS A LARGE AMOUNT OF SPREAD INTHE MODELS AT 72 HOURS AND BEYOND. THE 00Z UKMET AND ECMWF MODELS
MAINTAIN THE RIDGE OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO...WHICH KEEPS GUSTAVE
MOVING WESTWARD TOWARDS THE YUCATAN PENINSULA. THE
GFDL...HWRF...AND GFS WEAKEN THE RIDGE WHICH ALLOWS FOR A
WEST-NORTHWESTWARD MOTION INTO THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO. THE NEW
NHC TRACK FORECAST LEANS TOWARD THE GFS/HWRF SCENARIO AND IS A
LITTLE TO THE RIGHT OF THE MODEL CONSENSUS.

PEOPLE! Please read that.. All model suck 72 hours and further out and GFDL is absolutely horrible at long range modeling.. Keep an eye on it but running around claiming the sky is falling is not the answer.

For Global Models..

Long term (4days)
ECMWF
BAMM (non global)

2-3 days out
GFDL
NOGAPS

Outside of 3 days nothing is accurate.. BAMM sucks short term ans ECMWF doesnt have a long track life.

Has anybody ever had to evacuate Baton Rouge from a storm and would a storm ever make it possible to do so.

Good question, I'm curious about this myself. I stayed in BR for both Katrina and Rita and Rita was far worse here as we were on the WET side of that one. Still it was only heavy rain and gusty wind. Nothing too major where I was.

Anyone ever have to leave BR for a storm? I live in the LSU area off of Brightside Dr.

For the most part BR is fairly safe. Gustav looks alot like Lily which did hit west of BR. BR did ok.

My freshman year at LSU was for Andrew (Aug 1992). 24 hours after the storm hit it was still a CAT 1 storm and the eye passed just about over baton rouge. No power for 3-5 days, depending where you lived, but other then that nothing that bad.

My dad lived off Essen when Betsy passed over BR, also not a big deal other then rain and power outages.

I agree with this. It was pointed out to me that Rant Radio is not about LSU. This board, the Tiger Rant is also not about LSU ... it's about the weather, politics, religion etc.

I'm officially announcing the suspension of all LSU football messages. We must devote our attention and devotion to these Rant tropical weather forecasters. The O-T is not the place for them, they now own the Rant. Additionally, the Recruiting Board, SEC Rant, Food Board and the O-T are being cancelled. Tigerdroppings will consist entirely of Tiger Rant Hurricane Chat.

If anybody tries to talk about football, tell them 'frick off you arse clown'.
