Well Jones has just been officially announced as “defensive coordinator”

If this was the plan all along wouldn’t you make it official once Baker was on board

I'm not saying this is true, but go look at Ohio State.

Kerry Coombs is the DC. Greg Mattison, who just retired, is the co-DC. Note, Coombs has no "co" before his name, because he is the actual DC.

This

But also, I think it ends up maybe looking something like "LB and Run Game Coordinator" title.

Plus for those still having flashbacks to '08 as a reason to ban all possibilities of a future Co-DC situation, you should consider 2 things:

1 - The two coaches involved likely (based on their careers afterward) lacked the ability to be a good coordinator to begin with.

2 - '08 was likely more a true Co-coordinator type situation where Les didn't do a very good job of defining the duties or delineating the power structure between the 2; so it became a "too many chefs in the kitchen" type situation.

If Baker is in fact hired, regardless of his title, I think Orgeron will encourage a greater relationship between he and Jones and ask Jones to include Baker some on the scheme and game planning. But Orgeron will also make it clear that Jones is the DC and has final say on everything. If you do those two things, then it should be a net positive for the staff and team.
