I was driving down airline and it looks like they are renovating the course. Has anyone heard anything on the status of the project and what they are doing? From what I can tell while driving it looks like they are gutting the whole thing?

Gut job on the golf course and big renovations to club house too.....one assessment down and probably another one to go...they let in some new junior members to help with the cash flow...

My FIL is a member and sent me the internal link with the changes and everything they are doing. Widening fairways, making greens bigger.
The first par 3’s green is 90 yards deep and plays 256 from the tips... mother of god
They aren’t doing anything to the club itself.

Rode the course yesterday, can’t wait to see the finished product. A lot done already..

I played it 2 times the week before it shut down. So I’ve got it fresh on my mind. Should be joining in December (as long as I don’t get blackballed )

Will it still be number 3? Grew up on that course.

Consider yourself blackballed....seriously though
Also, to whomever asked, number 3 will be still be a par 3. It will be the traditional Biarritz long par 3. It won't be 250 from the regular tees, that is from the new Raynor tees Silva wants to add, which will be the tips. But, it will be a beast of a hole from all the tees especially when its into the wind.

I like the new tee box for 8. That area behind 7 and right of 2 is no man's land.
What is the final yardage for the back tees? 3 isn't bad if the run up to the green isn't wet. If its wet/soft that hole plays all of its yardage.
Will be calling Mary Jo back when we return to nola.

There is no set yardage in Silva's master plan but he does discuss additional yardages for specific holes in the hole-by-hole breakdown. He also suggests from the Raynor Tees that 9 and 18 be played as par 4s for a par 70.
The new drainage should hopefully make it fast and allow for run ups as designed. Like the collar in front of 14 swallows chips all the time from saturation, hopefully that will no longer be the case.
When y'all coming back to NOLA?

It is going to be awesome. For example, they are Running a bunker vertically down 6 to force players to make a choice off the tee. Courses that require players to make Strategic decisions are the best

The master plan says 6790. About 200 yards longer than before the shutdown. A few greens are being moved slightly behind where they are now (6, 9, and 11 for sure). The tees are mostly in the same spot distance wise with the exception of the new tees on 3 and 8.

The yardage is kind of a red herring. Imo, template holes are more concerned with the club into them, as opposed to the yardage. Some of them are meant to be played with a long iron or wood, so they have to be backed up a ton to make them fit properly in today's game.
Hence The Biarritz being back at 250. That's a touch long for The Biarritz template, but in 10 years, it may not be.
Same with The Redan. Today's game doesn't really have the fun shot of bouncing it off the kicker, but move the tee back and it's how you'd have to play it.

Anyone know the new yardage expected on the driving range since they are moving the #2 tees to the right?

100% agree.

That's from a tee that I suspect will be used seldomly.

Probably only about 20-30 yards longer. Hopefully enough to keep balls on the range and not on the 8th fairway.
