Why?
They'd be dumb AF to.
They can hold it as a carrot to Democrat voters in perpetuity.
States do it for tax revenue.
States tend to require balanced budgets.
Feds aren't like that.

The truth about weed is ... it's boring. If it were legal it would become very uninteresting very fast.
Yeah it's better for your body than booze but it's also far less interesting. What makes it compelling is it's safe and yet illegal. This built a cargo industry.
Go to Cali or Colorado or Oregon and almost nobody cares about weed except actual stoners and tourists.
