Not even close comparison for head coaches coming from DC to a assistant HC title. He took the title and raise cause the contract issue. It is not a better job or faster path to a head coach gig. Don't fool yourself.

There really is nothing worse than LSU fans. I’ve seen better people living under a bridge than the people in tiger stadium or the rant. Payton just lost his arse Head Coach snd could be losing Allen. Neilsen didn’t have to accept the promotion he got with the Saints. To some coaches being an arse head coach in the nfl is better than being a DC in college. It may shock some but being an assistant at LSU isn’t better than being an assistant in the nfl. I’m an LSU fan and wanted neilsen even before Freeman. Neilsen is a legit rising star in the coaching ranks. He signed a contract from the Saints that gave the Saints the power to make this move. If neilsen didn’t want it in the contract he didn’t have to sign it. Now he got a promotion snd a raise to remain in the nfl. Looks like LSU fans will continue to have to panic like they always do about every single thing that happens at LSU.

So when Dennis Allen gets the Eagles job and Nielsen is the DC of the Saints in a week will that be a better gig than the LsU DC for a raving maniac Head Coach who could be gone in a year?

Maybe neilson can help the saints remove a $100 million off their salary cap next year. The saints will have to pay the piper this year or soon. The saints will be a horrible team soon!!

Or maybe, just maybe, he values Nielsen as a coach and didn’t want to lose him so he blocked the initial offer so that he could have some time to counter.

Saint DC would be a better job. I hope he gets it and that is the deal. Being the dl coach with an assistant HC title is not.
