That is- if the impeachment was based on truth to begin with.

The House impeached while he was in office. That’s legal by anybody’s standard.

The Senate will try him after he leaves. That’s in question.

And that it is legitimate is debated by constitutional scholars.

There is debate. But my vague recollection is that there is historical precedent.

On January 20, the Senate will seat 9Senators. 50 Republicans and 49 Democrats......Now tell me, with the Whore Harris seat vacant, Who exactly is the biggest fool? The House Clown Show attempting to force a trail or the Democrats thinking they have a chance?

McConnell doesn't have the votes to convict and he knows it.

I knew the most about that candidate, and I liked what I saw.

I disliked Trump and Biden. Why throw it away on some third party candidate with whom I also disagree.

I voted for the person most aligned with my views. Me.

The Constitution does not require it in the House.

I’m aware. It shows the absolute farce that it is.

???

That quote is from Alan Dershowitz

He doesn’t want to represent trump bc he believes the trial will be nothing short of political theater.

He’s correct.

Sorry. I got confused. CajunAngelle said that Turley holds the same view.

That would surprise me. I respect Jonathan. I don’t think much of Dershowitz.

If Turkey said it, that has weight. Dershowitz carries only slightly more than Rudy.

If this goes to trial in the Senate I hope they can drag it out for months.

There is absolutely no historical precedent for putting a President on trial in the Senate after leaving office.

So what’s he working for then? Think hard.

Plus, some of the very few left in the White House are apparently denying he’s hired.

Presidents aren’t the only ones impeached, baw. And the rules would be the same, President or no.

Why does impeachment and conviction of a President bar him from future office?

Senate needs 2/3 majority to convict him.

If impeached and convicted, they have the option to vote to ban him from public office. The ban would only require a simple majority.

They can convict him without banning him. But the whole point of this exercise is to ban him. Don't see them getting 17 republican senators to flip for the conviction though.
