I am here for work so was going to get another opinion since there is bound to be higher qualified Dr. here than in LA.
Thinking of going through Methodist.

Back in 93 after seeing several doctors, finally saw Dr. Jerry Bob Blacklock at Methodist. He did my back surgery. Great surgeon and I haven't really had any issues since. I believe he is still practicing at Methodist.

Can recommend - what’s the exact problem?

Neuros for backs

ETA: Today I learned neurologist also deal with spinal cord injuries.
I would 100% pick a doctor in Houston, seeing as it is one of the top medical centers on the planet.

I think he is advocating for the segregation of physicians but not sure.

Is the doc on your payroll? Referral/finders fee?

That is what I had. Back then had to have it removed and the bones fused. He is one of the best, works or used to work on NASA guys etc.

Dr. Navin Subramanian - he’s a LSU person as well. I know him personally and believe him to be a straight shooting doctor and I know reps who service him in the OR and they say he has good skill and talent.
Navin
Dr. Jeffrey Kozak
Kozak
In 2001 I saw him personally for ruptured L5/S1 and his first sentence to me was “I make all of my money performing surgery and you don’t need surgery, if you do what I tell you to do within 1 year the results will be the same as if I performed surgery”.
To me that is the mark of character and integrity and he will always be someone that I would recommend. Quite honestly we don’t know the difference in Dr.’s for the most part but I greatly appreciated his desire to do what was in my best interest, not his pocket books best interest. I don’t know how old he now or active he is but by all means schedule a appointment with him or Navin and you won’t go wrong.

I graduated from high school with Nav. He might be the smartest person I know. He sleeps with his eyes open though. I thought he was dead the first time I saw it.

That would be the smart move.

Care to tell those of us still suffering from L5/S1 disc deterioration issues what the magic suggestion was?

Completely refrain from picking up anything of weight for a year, take injection that was given by Dr. Uday Doctor (recently deceased), no sporting activities for 6 months and lastly lose some of my weight and work on core and hamstring strength.
He described my rupture as a bacon wrapped scallop in which the bacon broke and the scallop was pushing through hitting the nerve. The pain was so intense that I thought my wife had stabbed me in my back in the middle of the night. I was walking around like Festus from Gone Smoke for weeks. The shot was instant pain relief and I followed his requests and I went pain free for the next 7 years. I played golf about 5 days a week and finally had it rupture again and I followed the same routine and have been pain free for another 8 years.
So nothing worldly but basically you have to let your body heal itself after the shot.
