The last lesson I had pro said the main thing I had to work on was my takeaway, it was way too inside. After that when I would play I thought I was taking it back correctly but the results were not there.

I sat in front of a mirror last two weeks and tried to hit the middle guy in the picture every time I took the club back with the clubhead covering my hands. It was hard at first but after a bunch of mirror work it started to become second nature

Played this weekend and the results were dramatic, much better golf all round after learning to hit that spot on the takeaway. Ive been inside my whole life and you really need mirror work to nail this spot, cant do it on your own.

Shaun Webb at Athletic Motion Golf has a bunch of videos on how important the takeaway is, here is a good one

LINK

Takeaway sets the motion for the whole swing, you have to nail it to be successful baws.

If your takeaway sucks your golf is gonna suck.

While not entirely wrong, there's no perfect takeaway or swing.....see Trevino, Nicklaus, Furyk & Miller Barber.

The simplest way to correct your takeaway is to NOT have one....check out the no-takeaway swing.

Yes, it's important, but what's perfect for someone depends on matchups later. Matt Wolff is closer to the guy on the right than the middle.

Inside takeaway is going to be worse than the other 2. There's a ton of successful guys with an outside takeaway, and they go steep to shallow. Inside is going more than likely be a steepening at the top and an over the top slicing action.

Been working on the same things you are and noticed a big difference, just havent gotten it ingrained yet where i can really go at a ball, everything is still in the 3/4 swing phase. just talking about regular golfers here but inside takeaways lead to over the top swings a lot of the time. its hard to get the club back on the correct plane.

I struggle with it and if its a day where the timing is bad it can be all over the place.

If you incorporate the JT pre-shot takeaway, it will probably help you as well.

Arnold Palmer said the most important part of the golf swing was the first foot you took the club back. Set everything in motion properly.

Great reminder, thanks. Realizing I was doing #1 too much, and as a result was over rotating.
