Anyone on this board have any feedback on this motor. Motor is in mint condition (maybe 100 hours on it).
Hearing concerns about the oil injection but from everything I've read you can't bypass it and mix your oil and gas.

Thank you in advance

I had a 94 model and it ran like a scalded assed ape. I did have oil injection issues that were fixed. Other than that no complaints kept it until 2007

The 96(I think) EFI is still my favorite engine ever. Only sold it because I was changing style of boat.

One of the best, if not the best, high HP outboard motors ever made.

I had one of that vintage and the oil pump did go out (in the middle of the Spillway), burning up the powerhead. So maybe mixing the oil & gas is a decent option.

I now have a 2010-2011 Optimax 4-stroke (250 h.p. Pro XS) that has never given me a minute's trouble (other than one false alarm telling me the reservoir was low on oil).

Talk to David Wade at David Wade Marine - he has a shop in south BR and posts here sometimes. He will give you the straight scoop on this motor's overall reputation.
