Arizona GOP planning on censuring Cindy McCain

Apparently this is legit (multiple news agencies reporting, Cindy McCain confirmed), although Maricopa county GOP has censured her and the state GOP has a resolution planned for January 23rd.
The AZ GOP has been so weird lately, especially on social media, unlike any other state GOP I’ve seen. It’s especially odd since they’ve just lost 2 GOP senate seats and the state went D for the first time in decades in the presidential election (and that was probably due to Perot taking votes).
So you would think of any state GOPs, they would pivot towards finding ways to appeal to those moderates and/or those that support certain issues (taxes) popular within the GOP, the exact opposed of what they’re doing (gay marriage is not a GOP winning issue; making fun of someone’s drug addiction is a strange strategy; particularly with the OPIOD crisis).
