LSU is a high risk, high reward for Freeman?

On 104.5 this morning, they explained that the SEC West represents the greatest challenge for coaches. Coaches are quickly getting fired in the SEC who can’t cut it. Noted that both ND and LSU are both high risks and remaining at Cinncy is the only safe bet.
Also noted that Peetes was the QB coach at the Raiders when Carr made it to the pro bowl 3 years in a row, and the running back coach at Carolina when the back drafted from Stanford exploded in the NFL with his abilities to catch and run the ball. They’re hopeful Freeman will sign with LSU, all seemed to go well on his visit. He’s just gonna take his time to consult and decide before making such a big move.

Unless Luke Fickell brainwashes him to stay at Cincy, then I don't know why Freeman would not want to go to LSU with all the talent we have.

I’d rather someone highly sought after than someone that literally no one wanted

McCaffrey was a can't miss in todays NFL

Sounds like they're just trying to make discussion to bide time until the announcement

Clyde wasn’t considered a great college back, but Coach Brady made it happen. Peetes can do the same.

I believe that the risk level (low af) is the best reason for him to come here.

You come here and do a great job... you get immediate national recognition for HC or nfl jobs. Aranda, joe brady etc
Does freeman believe he can turn our defense into a juggernaut again? If he doesn’t, don’t want him

Clyde was pretty good in 2018 too. Oline was crap

High Risk: Get fired after the covid/furlough season when 30% of your defense is gone
High Reward: LSU pays you 5.2 MM to leave after 30% of your defense is gone.
Sounds like a pelini article.I understand it hurts. But tell me where I’m wrong.

If he fails im sure Luke will pick him back up on whatever staff he's on at that time

That’s a safe bet.

Of course it is. The expecation level and outside attention is MUCH greater in the SECW than it is in the AAC. That's also why SECW schools are willing to pay 3-4X's as much as AAC schools.
Truth be told, this would probably be the BEST time for Freeman to come to LSU.
1. LSU looks to be returning several starters from last season;
2. There may be quite a bit of turnover for LSU's opponents. Alabama, A&M, Florida, Arkansas are all going to have new QB's. Auburn has the unknown of a new HC and the Mississippi schools, while improving (at least Ole Miss) probably aren't there yet
3. The measure of "success" is probably a bit lower than in previous years simply because of how bad the defense was last season. It shouldn't be that difficult to improve upon last year's dismal results.

Staying at a smaller school with meager talent has its risks too. A disappointing year or two and suddenly that luster is gone along with your big P5 payday.

High risk, high reward... that's where the big dicks hang. That's where winners live...

It would be hard for a coach to have a worse year on defense than we had last year. Seems pretty low risk, high reward to me.

A small white running back from Stanford was considered a can’t miss NFL prospect? Okay...

As bad as last year's defense was, it seems to me that the bar for the next DC is set pretty damned low.

Peetes? You mean Calvin and Rodney or Holly?
