I love the "right bloodline" comments. The breed exists for fighting. What do you think you're gonna find, one descending from the House of Windsor where dogs sat around on pillows all day?

Only non trashy pits I have ever seen were a guys hog catch dogs I used to run around with. Non trashy because the owner and the dogs knew that when they came out of the kennel it was go time. They were a trained tool.

I've written this before. I was at a friend's house with other friends. We all knew each other for many years. We all had children. We had all been around their dog, a pit bull, since it was a pup. It had the sweetest disposition and it was 13 years old when out of the blue it attacked the face of an 11 year old kid who was sitting on the sofa next to the dog. The kid was facing towards me watching the TV behind me and above the fireplace, so I had a good look at the event when it happened. I was talking to his mom and dad. The mom was seated on the sofa next to the dog's left.
With zero provocation from either the boy or the mom, the pit suddenly woke up from a sleep and immediately lunged for the boy's face, biting and snarling. My friend, the owner of the dog (it was his house), rushed over and pulled the dog off the boy. He was rushed to the hospital and required 15 stitches to repair his face. The dog was put down after that.
These dogs are a walking, ticking time bomb waiting to go off. They should all be put down and the breed outlawed.

I don't agree with making a bunch of crap illegal, though. Give the dumbasses enough rope to hang themselves and they will. Or they'll at least gain the hard-won knowledge that you don't get from haranguing people about your "fur babies" on the internet.

The EXACT reason I carry a fixed blade knife when I am out walking in the neighborhood with my almost 4 year old son and lab. Read enough stories, seen enough videos, etc...
