I still thought it was a stupid idea to draft him then. Coming off a huge injury, limiting what made him special (mobility who can make good throws).
Now you're asking him to be something he's not.

Yep. This is why I'm not on the Trevor Lawrence hype train.
Lawrence has other qualities that have made him the consensus number 1 for awhile now and its not necessarily because of his stats. I remember in their title game against Bama he looked off a DB then pump faked another one to create a wide open Tee Higgens (thats who I think it was). Thats the sort of thing you would see a Drew Brees or Tom Brady do, not a freshman in CFB. Its those kind of rare skills that have set him apart from the others.

If the Dolphins are serious about developing Tua, then they need to overhaul their offensive coaching staff. Chan Gailey was brought out of retirement specifically to coach Fitzpatrick.
Gailey and Fitz had a previous relationship, and know each other well.
I doubt Gailey is the right guy to develop a young QB in 2021. Hell, he’s nearly 70. He might not want to take on that task at this point in his career, especially since he had been retired for 3 years before Flores and Fitz convinced him to come back this year.

You’re so wrong!! When you whiff on a pick the faster you realize it and move on the better off you are. Arizona cardinals. Rosen to Murray!!

Miami should take a QB. Tua looks tiny and he can't avoid the rush like a Murray or Watson.

If they don't like Tua, pick a WR and O lineman in first round, trade him and pick up a QB in free agency.

I just think it’s silly how early people here are giving up on him.
And I think it has to do with Alabama more than Tua.
Any QB taken with a top 5 pick is going to be put under a microscope, especially when other top picks in the same draft (Herbert, Burrow) do very well out of the gate.
Same thing happened to Darnold, Trubisky, Sanchez, Jamarcus, Leaf, etc.

Imagine how good this Miami team could have been with Herbert or a healthy Burrow.

I wonder if Tua, pick 3, and an additional 2nd rounder could get pick 1

Or maybe you bail on a guy like say...Josh Allen after a tough first year and draft a guy like Dewayne Haskins (who is exactly who the Bills would have ended up with if they did what you’re suggesting)?
I agree that it worked out for the cardinals. But this strategy can easily go in the opposite direction.

They never should have played him this year in the first place. He should have been on the bench recovering from his injury and learning the pro game.
Teams who rush out QBs are way more likely to ruin them than they are to have instant success.
