The staff knew they weren't getting Leigh for a while. If Cregg's job depended on that signing he'd been gone on Black Monday a few weeks ago.

We also can’t be afraid to hit the northern states and the Carolina/Virginia area for OL talent. It’s pretty simple imo, start dishing out more freakn cash in that one area of the roster period!!! Private jets to their house. Helicopter drops in their back yards. It’s time to get flashy and creative. Show them we need them and WANT them. Show them they’ll have the finest treatment while here and have the finest coaching to boot. Put a premium on those OLman! Gotta get it!
This year we nabbed the 2nd highest rated OT in Michigan (Dellinger). Last year we got the highest rated OT in Florida (Dumervil). That is happening.

However, granted, it is not happening on the scale we need. We need to do that twice every year. But the idea we're not reaching outside our core area and pulling some other states top talent is just false. We just need to do more of it on a yearly basis.

As far as the why it isn't happening- I'm not sure. I know one thing I'd like to see (and for recruits to see) is a small army of analysts dedicated to the trenches. They don't need to be OL and DL specific, but they need to be specific to the combined OL and DL. That's how the NFL does it because what's good for the DL is bad for the OL, the analysis is literally mirror images of each other. You see a bad kick step by an OT, your teaching your DL 2 indicators to watch for and 3 moves to abuse it. You see a DE bull-swim to the inside you're teaching your OT to adjust his kick step. I think seeing that "dedication to improving their craft" by LSU will help alot with recruits.

It wouldn't have helped this year because of no camps and normal visits. But in general the focus needs to be in that arena.

By the way, you can hire Kevin to be that lead analyst paired up with LaCouture. Who knows where that might lead.

All you did was prove my point dumbass!!! Bama “which obviously includes their coach” can come to LA anytime and just about get who they want!

Yea so what’s your point? Bama is a dynasty that gets recruits from every state, not just LA. Do you not understand that? Until Saban leaves that won’t change

Tell that to Ohio State and Clemson. They stand shoulder to shoulder with Alabama in the natty fight every damn year. Meanwhile at LSU...smh. That whole "wait for the dynasty to end" shite is stupid and lazy.

Put them in the SEC West and that would not be the case. LSU just happens to compete in the same division as the greatest dynasty in CF history but you retards can’t get that through your head. All people hear is dumbasses like you saying “ Alabama this and Alabama that” when something goes wrong at LSU

Need to go get Kevin Mawae!! He will get the best lineman to come here and he knows how to coach the position!!

Based on what? His recruiting record? Maybe it’s his coaching record?

Kevin may end up being great as a college line coach, but your assumption that he will be really good is purely a guess.

I think people are wildly overrating the position coaches responsibility for recruiting. Does it matter? Sure it does. But you don't think they went into this cycle knowing offensive line was a big need and if Orgeron himself needed to be heavily involved anywhere it was there? Of course and we still whiffed on the position. It's a failure of the entire staff.

I hate this defense but it's an obvious recruiting strategy, our offensive line won awards and had multiple guys drafted, you can't just pin it on Cregg can't recruit, it's bigger than him.

My point is, these kids from Louisiana don’t grow up dreaming of playing for Bama. Most kids in states with strong programs want to stay instate and play for those programs. Key word “most” kids. There are outliers but they are few.

Not an easy task to keep Saban from stealing our top Louisiana talent that we not only want, but need, so we have to do a better job of it. But when 20% of the starting lineup on a team that is clearly head and shoulders above the rest are from our state, that shows not only the talent in our state but the need to do a better job recruiting that elite talent to stay home!

Exactly. Hire mawae as an analyst with an option to be an on field coach if u like what u see.

I don't care that cregg missed on leigh, i care that we didn't have a backup ready to sign.
Reuben fatheree liked lsu early in the summer. Why didn't we push for him?

Why does O get a pass he said he would solidify the trenches. He clearly isn't and he hired Cregg - now it appears he gets to hire yet another coordinator.

Dude gets an empty check book to continue to make bad decisions on coaching hires.

Its your opinion, you list them. It appears all the starters are coming back. If a younger player beats them out for a starting position, you will have been exposed.
Cregg is a good coach. He has proven himself.
Recruiting against Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio St is an uphill battle. Covid nullified our positives of last seasons marvelous season. We couldn't bring recruits on campus so recruiting had to be done through the media.

I'm good with getting Mawae on board working with Cregg and see how he does, but include him in recruiting and technique coaching. How can that not be a plus for the OL development.

You realize the majority of the kids playing CFB now and within the past 5 years grew up watching the beginning of Bama’s dynasty. You damn right a lot of kids no matter where they live have dreamed of playing for Saban. Are you serious? This isn’t the 80’s and 90’s anymore bud.

Not the case at all anymore. All the top recruiting programs pull kids from all over the country every year.

Just about every recruit Saban has gotten from LA hasn’t done shite in college, not enough that we can say we miss him. I can think of about 5 out 25.

Collins
Cam Rob
Smith
Tim Williams
Eddie Lacy

I agree with that, but we are taking kids from Alabama and also beating bama on some of the kids they offered out of state.

If we do replace Cregg (which is unlikely this season with all of the vets returning), it should be with this guy. He’s legit and and has had success all over the country, including here before.
