I saw Huey Lews and the News there just before they hit it big. I was in Junior High but got in through some older friends.

Stan signed with LSU, then about two weeks before it was time to report to campus decided to back out. He told his parents that he just wasn't ready for the pressure.
His dad finally came to him one day and told him if he didn't get up and go play football, he was gonna kick him out of the house. So he went to NLU.

lots of memories from "Funroe" La at NLU. Siesta is where the athelets usually hung out. Almost got in a fight with a basketball player there one night. He was an inch taller but he backed down. Lots of fun clubs in town. I never went to Sals but had friends that did. Snuck into a 21 and over bar when I was 18 and met some real old women. I think they were 24 and 26. Pretty fun time. lol

Graduated on the 5 year plan from NLU in 84. Was a Football Manager. Siesta was best on a limited budget for Beer. Plus the owner was a big football supporter.
Great Times.
Have not been able to get back to a game since the Northern Iowa playoff game the year they won the championship.
Sure wish i lived closer. Had some good times in Funroe.

Again, to clarify a point...Stan WAS in school at LSU. He WAS on the LSU team...remember seeing a picture of him at practice as a Tiger. He did not stay long...did not adapt well to being away from home...would not go to class...was in big trouble with Arnsparger over this...transfered to Northeast and had a good career there and in the NFL...again, HE did BRIEFLY Attend LSU. When he first started having second thoughts, I have no idea about, but he DID attend LSU...briefly.
Just sayin'...

I was just repeating the story that Stan told me... Perhaps he meant he got second thoughts after he attended LSU. I dunno... It's been a year or so.

I went to Southwood with Stan. He was not going to his classes at LSU and Coach Arnsparger booted him. It was frustrating for me because I had hoped someone from Southwood would lead LSU to an SEC championship at that time.

Buy one of those 20 dollars Scorpion Bowls, then have the chicks fill it up with whatever rock gut fruity mixed drink all night long. Like a never ending Gobstopper.
Wishing Well blaring in the back ground.....paying the D to play Shes Like the Wind (God bless you Patrick Swayze) just to rub up on some sorority poon.
