Yeah, I think CD Projekt Red is gonna be fine.
For comparison, that's more than the entire Dead Space franchise (a successful multi release AAA franchise) has sold combined for all it's games.

They estimated 16M though, so it still undersold by millions on their projection which is why their stock has dropped 26% since pre-launch. Went from $120/s to $73.

I think the damage to their reputation is the biggest hit. I assumed they were a rising star in the industry. My experiences with Witcher 3 were largely positive and it felt like a polished well developed game.
This mess has made me look at them with far more scrutiny moving forward. This game isn’t bad, but it’s just so so disappointing relative to what I thought I was getting.

I mean the game is pretty damn fun on PC as long as your rig can handle it. Reminds me a lot of Deus Ex and that’s one of my favorite series on PC.

It's okay, but not currently a game I'd put hundreds of hours into.

Agreed. They were actually one of the few studios with a very strong positive reputation amongst gamers. People would have been more forgiving of a bungled launch had it come about more honestly but it seems 100% obvious they were intentionally lying and actively deceiving everyone about the state of the game, particularly on consoles. That sorta scumbaggery would be shocking even for EA. Nobody is gonna trust a thing they say for awhile. Stupid thing is they 100% knew it would blow up in their faces and still went ahead. Whoever the executives who made that decision are need replacing.
They've already improved things a lot, at least in terms of performance and stability, and I'm sure will continue to do so but even still the reputation grind will be a long slog.

I lucked out and got a PS5 so I'll just wait for the next gen upgrade and the patches to finally play it.

Animal Crossing did 13 million in 6 weeks on 1 platform.
WEAK.
WEAK.

I waited 5+ years for this game and it blows donkey balls. I'm sorry but I'm done with them.

Yea but it's Animal Crossing.

That's not how it works. The stock went down because investors were short 180M dollars in lost sales the company projected.
"It still sold a lot" means nothing.
Also people selling a stock doesn't make it go down.

I refunded and will buy when they fix keybinding, they started the game on hardware 8 years ago, decided to release on a next generation console release. They treated their people like shite, and released a crappy game on consoles. As a result of trying to make it console ready they messed up the pc version.
They make great games, but run a shitty business model.

more people selling a stock drives the price down, thats simple supply and demand

General people don't influence the market like that. If investors started to pull out, sure. Then the common people pull out and it spirals.
But for a stock to drop significantly, the common stock holder can't influence that enough for a huge drop.
Be nice if it were that easy to manipulate the market though.

I hear what you’re saying, but this:
Is not true. Yes, few individuals selling does not have effect. However, in a publicly traded company, common people are the investors. If few pull out (<1%) it will have minimal, if any, effect on stock price. On the other hand, if there is a large run of common stock sales (10%<) by shareholders (i.e. from bad press related to a release people had been banking on doing very well and then underperforming) it can certainly devalue stock price based on supply-demand principles.
I have no idea how many average folks are tied up in CDPR, but if it’s mostly common and a good portion of those bailed after CP77 news, it would deflate the stock value.

It looks like some investors have filed a lawsuit over Cyberpunk, stating CD Projekt Red misled them about the game. They're seeking other investors to join the suit. They detailed the claims in a press release:
LINK
quote:
(1) Cyberpunk 2077 was virtually unplayable on the current-generation Xbox or Playstation systems due to an enormous number of bugs; (2) as a result, Sony would remove Cyberpunk 2077 from the Playstation store, and Sony, Microsoft and CD Projekt would be forced to offer full refunds for the game; (3) consequently, CD Projekt would suffer reputational and pecuniary harm; and (4) as a result, defendants’ statements about its business, operations, and prospects, were materially false and misleading and/or lacked a reasonable basis at all relevant times. When the true details entered the market, the lawsuit claims that investors suffered damages.

Assuming the complaint is worded adequately, those allegations would probably survive a motion to dismiss in a fiduciary duty type of lawsuit in the US. Now, they’d have to get some proof that they actively withheld info from the investors in malicious way to ultimately win which is incredibly difficult from an evidentiary standpoint. I also have no idea if Poland’s laws on this would be different because I’m not sure a US investor could use US law unless it’s listed on a public exchange over here.
