I wish we used him as quarterback. Oregon used to have quarterbacks his size. I would have loved to have a real dual threat. Miles ruined him

If by ruined him, he gave him an Avenue that got him to the NFL then yes he ruined tf out of him.

Our fans are idiots.

He was a very inaccurate passer and is playing the position he’s best suited for. I watched him in high school and never thought he would be successful long term at QB.

He ran for more yards as a HS senior than he passed for, had more carries than pass attempts. Vince Young threw for more than he ran for, so did Reggie McNeal if you remember him. Could have just been a difference in high school offenses, but I'm sure if Shepard could have thrown well, at the high school level, they would have used it. Just all points to the fact he wasn't a good passesr.

agreed, Early Doucet was primarily a QB in high school, but was rated as the #1 WR in the country, don't know why the same was wasn't done with Sheppard, they should have at least listed him as a ath.

If Curley would have made Chad Loupe the full time starter, LSU would have been bowl eligible.

Bit of a catch 22 situation for Shepherd. He was a handful of years ahead of his time as a QB. In recent years, we've seen more use of these type of somewhat slight, scrambling QBs in spread offenses. Greg Ward, Deriq King among others.

I feel like if Shep was a recruit from 2015-present, he probably insists on staying at QB and finds someone willing to give him the chance. On the other hand, when you look at a guy like Greg Ward who had some success at QB but still ended up at WR in the NFL. Shep's career was less noteworthy statistically but he was likely better off professionally for having made that move early in college, rather than try to do it in the NFL.

If you ever watched his high school highlights, you knew he was never going to be a D1 QB.

So don't recruit him. In his mind he was.
And no doubt, in a more open offense, he would have done better.

Stupid (and selfish) for Les to recruit him. And overly idiotic for his family to be fooled into thinking Les would change offense

Miles completely wasted his talent. And he wasn’t the only one.

I don’t know much in this world but I do know that Russel Shepard was never going to play QB in the NFL.

Russell Gage is probably a better passer than Shepard
