Opting out should have only been option before first kickoff unless the player or immediate family member gets it after season started. After that, it is quitting and scholly should be pulled

If LSU tells a committed recruit they offered a scholarship to to “look elsewhere” then LSU is “quitting” too.

But, not withstanding my above comments, here I go. Ben did not 'take' a years worth of tuition without fulfilling his obligation to the University and playing baseball. He also did not leave mid-season, or opt out of post-season. Ben doesn't begrudge someone forgoing their remaining eligibility to turn pro. He begrudges them playing part of a season and then quitting bc things go to rough.

I never said mid season and neither did the OP. But LSU absolutely quit on the recruits they told to “look elsewhere”. FACT
