I know, its Johnston Murphy. However, one little secret about JM is the Aristocraft line. The Aristocrafts are goodyear welted and are made with better leather. The price reflects it too as they go for around $300.

JM has them on sale right now for $139. That is a steal for goodyear welted shoes. A decent goodyear welt shoe usually starts at $300.

Go to JM website, enter Aristocraft in the search box.

They, Cole Haan and Floresheim used to be great American made shoes. All China and India now. Just can't do that. (Nike destroyed Cole Haan). Allen Edmonds (which are most all still made in America) is almost always on sale (Calerese is trying to kill a great brand here) or just save up and get some Aldens.

Back when I wore JM the better line than I had was $1000 a pair. I wore holes clean through the soles on a few pair. Burgundy and black, was FAF in the 10th grade.

While this is clearly their top tier shoe, I prefer going with a hard rubber sole, like AE Dantite or whatever they call it. Wooden soles just perform poorly and are terrible for walking the streets. When I was in DC, they’d soak through with regularity.

I’m tempted by this sale but I don’t think it’s practical for my use anymore. I dont live the dress shoe life anymore.

Good find and recommendation though.

I love my Johnston Murphy dress shoes. I’m far fro a fashion afficiando but they last forever amd are very comfortable.

I didn’t know that JM had a bad name with OT ballers.

I’ve got ten or twelve pair of Allen Edmonds. I just don’t see any reason to go with anything any different. They are on sale a lot and there is always the Shoebank.

I got a pair a few days ago. I am a JM loyalist at Lakeside shopping center. All my shoes, bests, and socks come from there. I get compliments and inquiries often at events.

All I buy is JM. My favorite is any shoe with an XC4 sole. The comfort level is multiplied.

They make JM shoes for kids now. I bought two pairs for my son a couple months ago. He loves them and they are awesome. Looks like a man child. ??
