They get, in return, tuition and training and, often, preparation for a highly lucrative NFL career.
All of that can be taken away from them for any reason real or imagined. If they can lose their scholarship why can’t they opt out of their scholarship?
That being said I fully believe that anyone who opts out should immediately lose their scholarship

False. All it will do is force these colleges who are making millions off these players restructure how they compensate these players.
You mean other than free lodging, free meals prepared by licensed nutritionists, free access to world class exercise facilities, and free education at the university level that would otherwise cost tens of thousands of dollars?

I respect their decision. Go tigers!!

They get cut if they violate a condition of their agreement with the school. They don't lose their scholarship mid-season if they're just not great.

People throw the word “processed” around constantly and you still have this take?
It might not happen mid year but plenty of players are subject to losing their scholarship around the country every year

Plenty of teams get complacent when hearing these types of things. I hope LSU is focused on playing LSU football no matter who is on the field.

Say what??
That's not done mid- or end-of season. It's shady, though not illegal, and it's done before the season commences.
These guys are opting out before the end of the season.

I guess that guy that posted about this this morning wasn’t just spreading rumors.

Awe shucks. Too bad for ole miss. Like we don’t know how it feels. Lol

I'm not saying it's illegal; I'm saying they've agreed to get a thing of value - a scholarship - in exchange for playing unless they're hurt or ill. They've reneged on their part of the agreement. That's not just shady; it's a violation of the contract.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I miss the days when players gave a shite about the colleges they played for. There used to be an element of pride.
The LSU-Ole Miss game means something to a true fan of either team. How do we get back to a place where players and the majority of fans care about pride and tradition?

I could understand if these 2 pre-med students were getting ready for final exams......but to quit now? BTW...you prepare for the NFL combine by actually showing what you can do in the games.. Coaches need to start telling these kids to never come back to the OM athletic facilities.

I LOVE this game. What is better than yelling, "Geaux to hell, Ole Miss! Geaux to hell!"?? It makes me so sad that these guys don't have a similar appreciation of our tradition.

t’s literally no different than employees saying “I’m not going to do that amount of work for that amount of pay”. This is how capitalism works.
