Also at the end of Chapter 14 when Grogu is using the force on the storm troopers...Gideon tells him that this makes him “oh so tired”. How does he know this?

quote:Yep, there are lots of things waiting to be answered.
It'll be interesting to see how so many questions are answered - if at all.
quote:This is a good question. It's not Imperial, else Gideon already would have him. Not sympathetic to the Alliance, or else he'd have been delivered to Luke by now.
We know someone took Grogu from the Temple but do we know who hired all those people to protect him in Season 1 where Mando found him to collect the bounty?
If it were an established underworld group, you'd think the bounty hunters (say, Fett) would have been aware of him by now. Remember, we're talking about back when Order 66 happened. That's a long time to sit on an asset. Wonder, was he carbonite-frozen awhile?
Also, who hired the ones to kill him? The Imperials wanted him alive, for research.
WAS IT the New Republic politicians, fearing that cloning tech could could make a Snoke-type guy? Is THAT what drives Luke off later?

The empire had him at some point, right? They did studies on him

That's a good point that I definitely hadn't thought of yet.
The bounty hunting droid was about to kill Grogu to collect whatever person had hired him so it wasn't the Imperial group that hired Mando as you mentioned.
That may be something that never gets answered and sometimes there are shows where I'm okay with that. I might be okay with leaving that a mystery that books and comics etc. can explore.
ETA: Someone mentioned that Gideon seemed to know plenty about Grogru for some time - knowing that using the Force made him tired for example. In season 1 he also said that Grogru meant more to him than Mando knew meaning he full well knew who Grogru was and what he was capable of doing.
I wonder if at some point after Order 66 the Empire got a hold of him, did some tests, somehow lost him, and then put a bounty out there to get him back.
Interestingly, if the Empire had at least an idea of where Grogu was (hence they were able to send Mando and other bounty hunters to the right planet) why not go get him themselves? Gideon clearly had the firepower to do it...but it seemed apparent that Gideon was determined to keep his tests a secret for as long as he could and only intervened when he felt he absolutely had to.

Maybe I’m just being a curmudgeon, but I’m not a fan of the story arc they took in season 2. I liked that they were letting mando create his own way in the universe without going back to Jedi and Skywalkers.
Idk, I guess maybe the sequel trilogy and rise of skywalker specifically, just ruined cameos and callbacks for me.
Then with the word of all the spin-offs with Kathleen Kennedy in charge...it feels like they’re going to pick every morsel of meat off the bone.

Mando is still creating his own way in the universe. He's not gonna go be some Jedi fanboy. But he does have the dark saber. A lot of fans have thought about the possibility of a Mandalorian Jedi.
I always felt like the show was about baby yoda/Grogu. He's the damn star of the show. And the show is called The Mandalorian. So I always kinda felt like Grogu would be a Mando. Not sure if that is off the table now.
I just don't think that Favreau is gonna put Grogu on the shelf. He's never let us down before though so I'm not worried.

I loved season two. This series takes place 5 years ROTJ and you have a force sensitive Yoda species. Of course Luke would be the one to hear him and rescue him.

My theory is, its other imperial remnants.
You had one species holding Grogu when we first see him and that same species part of the attack trying to take him in season 2 episode 2.
Someone else wants the child.
Though to make it more confusing someone else wants the child dead.
I wonder if this will be dropped or further explored. We will have multiple shows in this period.
Mandalorian season 3
Book of Boba Fett
Rangers of the New Republic
Ahsoka
The story should get really interesting in about a year.

quote:he was watching him on the security cam. how would a tracker beacon tell Gideon that mando used his rockets.
But Gideon bragged to Mando about knowing all of his information. He even knew that he used the last of his little rockets that shot out of his arm.

I may hijack the thread: is there any chance Luke is the Jedi who answers Grogu’s signal from the stone? He’d still be 10-15 years away from his falling out with Ben Solo. What’s he got better to do right now? Not like Mark Hamill is otherwise busy.
Nicely done.

quote:asking these questions is like trying to figure out how the force moves objects. I dont think you will EVER get that detailed of back story on Grogu. the best your gonna get is he survived the temple and was in hiding and the empire imprisoned him because he has force powers and was a baby.
Was it the Jedi that rescued him and left him there for protection while they went off to do something else? Did the Jedi that rescued him lose him at some point? How did Moff know who/where Grogu was to have a bounty put on him in the first place?

i'd love to know the stats on the people who've rewatched the last ten minutes (like me) 1000 times

Eh, I mean she's an executive producer on Mandalorian but I'd bet she has almost nothing to do with it. Who knows about every single other series announced, but the ones within the Mandalorian timeline (Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, Book of Boba Fett) are going to be Favreau and Filoni run shows again that she'll have zero say in. I think her overall influence on the Disney+ shows is minimal and waning.
I also just think too much focus is given to her. Yeah, she made bad decisions when it came to who was given creative control of the trilogy and not making sure the story of the whole thing was established from the beginning, but the individual writers and directors made the terrible decisions that people have so many issues with.

I don't think those questions are as obscure as asking about the physics of the Force.
As I mentioned in another post, maybe we get answers in the show and maybe we don't.
But there's no way books or comics won't explore that part of the story.

But if she's really being forced out, then why was she the one who did the whole Star Wars/Lucasfilm investor day presentation a week or so ago talking about the Mandalorian and announcing the Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka spinoffs? If Disney knew they were getting rid of her, wouldn't it have made more sense to have someone else like Favreau or Filoni announcing the new projects they'll be in charge of?
you know she is out right.

Rumors on Youtube also said Pedro Pascal left the set and wouldnt be heavily involved in the back half of Mando S2 (obviously false). Best to take rumors as rumors.
This is like expecting George to rewrite the prequels based on The Clone Wars series.

The prequels were bad movies. The sequels were late term abortions.

I've enjoyed the series and the finale was a good wrap up to season 2. The whole series has had great production values and it looks and feels like "Star Wars" should.
Luke appearing and wrecking shite was great, and I love the "motley crew" with Mando, Boba Fett and the "take back Mandalore group"
Of course there are nitpicks - the "troopers can't shoot straight" has gotten a little overboard, but that's always been part of Star Wars.
The one thing that gives me pause going forward is that I hope they don't make too much of a big deal of the "have to defeat the current owner" of the dark blade angle. If it's a political thing - winning the blade by combat would attract followers to her cause - that's one thing, but if it's some type of enchantment thing, I don't think that would be a great storyline. It could bog down into minutiae of what it means to defeat someone. Heck, Mando didn't kill or mortally wound Gideon to win it. Could she beat Mando at checkers or tic tac toe or something?
