This is why the melt of Sage Ryan maybe going to Bama was so epic. Why would he not come to LSU? He is already a starter on this team next year.

Lol I said this yesterday morning and got flamed.
People on here are so reactionary and want to blame coaching so bad.
This defense could be smothering with just *competent* safety play and an elite edge rusher.

Hell, even when they are in position to make a tackle they are bouncing off of people... it's just been bad this year for the safeties.

This... Sage will see the field right away. Mo Hampton is clueless back there.

Kary Vincent opting out really hurt this secondary.

Never appreciated Vincent enough until I watched passes being completed and no defensive player within ten yards of the receiver.
Help is on the way.

Ryan, Langlois, and the recruit from Pa., Derrick Davis can all run.

That is a big hit, not playing in coverage. How many times have you seen a CB playing under, looking for safety help over top, and see Hampton run into the screen to help chase the receiver because he wasn't playing deep? And not just him - all of the safeties. Kary Vincent opting out really hurt this secondary.

That’s all true, but it’s irrelevant to my post and the point I was making. I was simply refuting the claim that Mo Hampton doesn’t like to hit.

Idk.

Hampton and Stevens took huge steps back too.

I think at some level this is a coaching issue. Hampton and Stevens were strengths at the end of last season and now they’re weaknesses.

I actually think baseball is Hampton's best sport.

hopefully someone new to coach them

Idk why you got down voted for this. People have no problem blaming Pelini but once we try to hold Raymond accountable everyone freaks. He must be one of the rant’s untouchables.

honestly think Dwight would be a good safety

I think that’s coming. He would make a good safety/nickle. He’s too slow to play corner unless he develops a great bump and run game. Even then you could never let him near a Chase, Jefferson, Boutte or Devonta.
