Speed is 7.662 km/s
17,139.40587 mph
Tried to bounce a radio signal off it on this pass but there was way too much traffic.
It will be back again Dec 18th around 6:18 AM, should be visible then too.

Similar. I shined a flashlight and waved.

So I'm assuming we rarely get a good view of it passing by?
Actually passes over pretty regularly. There’s an app called ISS Spotter you can download that shows when it’s scheduled to pass over your area, to the minute. It also tells you how good the view will be (star rating). Last night’s was particularly good. The app is great.

I saw it last night. Was out on our dock and saw a bright light traveling NW to SE. Last time I saw it, ISS moved SW to NE. I wasn't expecting it to be moving to SE.
Wasn't out there to look for it. I was cleaning fish.

Here's a link to Stellarium on the web. You can put in your location and search for the ISS to know when it will transit across your location.

Looking up.
Still waiting.

ETA: I’ve seen satellites before but they were much smaller and faster
Dumb question time here. Which satellites actually orbit (non gsync) around the earth?

The space station takes around 90 minutes to orbit the earth. The earth rotates under it so the exact path is offset a bit each orbit. Eventually the path will shift so far that it will come from the south to the north. In fact, I just checked and it's taking that exact same path you described.

Reeeeeeal subtle.

There are about 5000 satellites orbiting earth right now. Of those only about 2000 are functioning.

Bought some penny stocks in 2000, I'm sure I own one of them. Crap investment, but worth the risk.

How long after commercial space travel will we have to wait before Discovery or History channel gives us a show with 6 rednecks and a space wrecker doing space salvage?
Dibs on the show idea, frickers!
