He is raising funds for restaurant workers across the country. Dude is a hero!

ETA: He has so far raised $22M and sent $500 checks to 43,500 restaurant workers.

Fieri is a character, but he truly loves the service industry. I used to think Bourdain had the best job in the world. But Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives (plus that beautiful Camaro SS), is a pretty incredible gig.

For as much shite as Fieri has gotten over the years, he really is an awesome person.

If his image didn’t start with frosted tips, he’d be right there at Ramsey/Alton Brown levels of popularity.

Turned the ‘news’ when they had the country music singer on to peddle her CBD line. Infotainment.

I liked Bourdain a lot but he was a pompous a-hole towards a lot of other people in his industry.

Guy Fieri is on another level than Ramsey/Brown I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Fun story - I met Guy Fieri when I was on one of his shows here in NOLA many years ago. Dude was kind of a dick to be honest. When the camera's weren't on he refused to talk to anyone and would have someone follow him around with an umbrella and a water bottle spritzing him to keep him cool.

But I applaud him for supporting the industry and raising this kind of money for people.

ETA: Maybe he was just having a bad day, but it was apparent he could turn off the personality when the camera wasn't on. Maybe ole baw wasn't used to the south Louisiana heat. But there's a picture of me and Guy, with him looking less than enthused. My dad framed it and put it in my parents house. It cracks me up every time I go visit and I see it.

That's nice, but what there restaurant workers need is the ability to go back to work. Charity is fine, but not sustainable.

Alton Brown is a huge a-hole who keeps having meltdowns on Twitter. I have lost all respect for him.

Guy seems like good people.

All chefs are narcissistic assholes. But GF went to college and has a track record in restaurant management.

I think that his restaurants haven't always lived up to the high profile hype. But Triple-D is a great show & celebrates great independent food joints.

I’m talking about popularity, and no, Fieri is not as widely known or nearly as respected as Ramsey and Brown.

The hype for his restaurants was high profile. They're located in places like Manhattan and Vegas, and the promotion was loud and prominent and hard to ignore. Not that they were considered high brow dining.
