I want to give praise to my Texas ISD

They sent out a note last week that basically said.
-Too many at-home school kids are failing and/or have excessive days missed of school.
-If your child is failing 1 class at the end this 9 weeks, they are revoking their at-home school status for the remainder of the school year.
-If your child has more than 9 unexcused days missed, they are revoking their at-home school status for the remainder of the school year.
In a world where teachers are complaining about teaching in person, because there is a .005% they might die; it is nice to see a district realize children are the most important part of school.

Literally killing children.

How do you miss class when class is anywhere you are?

Parents aren’t making sure their kids are logged on.

Mean while, in Fairfax County, VA teachers are being told not to give failing grades. They're just pushing kids to the next class, learning be damned.

Kids aren’t going to school?
My son’s school is full-on in class teaching.

This is correct. It is an issue in the High Schools mainly as well.

Is it crazy to wish for Texas to secede?

Our district offered in-person and stay-at-home school.
My kids have been in-person from the beginning.
The grade difference between in-person and home has been eye opening to the district.

Anyone with a functioning brain could see this coming from a mile away.

So now it is about what is best for kids?

Ascension parish(one of the best in arse-backwards La) mixed it up and does the staggered schedule. Kids go to school some days and virtual others.
My 10th and 12th grader both seem to be doing just fine with it, aside from the lack of social interaction.

While I love it I don’t see this sticking. The parents of those kids are going to throw a fit and the ridiculous media blow back will put pressure on them to stop.
As ridiculous and stupid as it may be this seems to be the most likely outcome to me.

My son wouldn’t do shite they weren’t on his arse every day.
They offered stay at home learning too, but to play sports you have to attend campus every day.
I don’t know who would pay for private school to do at home learning?

Is this Prosper ISD? I had a parent tell me the same thing from PISD. I agree with above mentioned, how do you miss school when all you have to do is log in? Lazy arse kids.

While I see that as a possibility, it is going to be a tough go for them. The district prides itself on academics and the property taxes reflect that

There has been 0 outbreaks of Corona in the schools and they are strictly enforcing mitigation steps. Only 20 of 21,618 students are infected right now.
Several of these kids were also doing at-home school, yet playing on school sport teams or band. That kind of destroys their case as well.

No, but good to hear another Collin County district is. I suspect Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Allen to all centralize on this.
It is why Collin > Dallas County.
