Listening to Stingley Sr. on the radio...

Derek Stingley.... he gone next year. Probably not breaking news, but sounds like his dad is laying the argument now.
Edit: "he gone next year" meaning I wouldn't be surprised if he does not play college football next year. Sr. is about the business of football, maybe not so much the team game.

You mean he's gone after next season

As in play and leave after Junior season, or skip the season?
If leaving after playing the season then that was to be expected after he started as a freshman and balled out.

Foregone conclusion and he would be dumb to risk injury playing WR
Ryan Clark needs to go back with his buddy Nick Saban and entice his players to leave early since he's trying to steal all LSU's players to train

I think this year is obviously a funky one so i'm in wait and see mode if in a more "normal" year, do guys opt out of entire seasons. I'm skeptical that you see widespread 2 year and opt out decisions moving forward as things normalize.

LSU and other programs will have to sprinkle in more 3 star guys who have to stay 3-4 years and work their tail off to be seen. Guys like Stingley who are sure fire first rounders aren’t sticking around and risking injury. I don’t blame them either. It’s on LSU and other programs to adapt.

That should be expected. I know a lot of fans don't see it now, but I still think 2021 can be an exceptionally good season.

Hope you're right! Because I think the landscape of college football as we knew it is forever changed! You'll see play 2 opt out 3rd year!

It will be similar to college basketball soon. Kids will play just enough to have film, get their grade and “opt out”. They’ll sit out and train 1.5 years for the nfl draft.

Im not sure if we see Stingley next year at all. His dad was very sympathetic to players leaving early and making the best business decision. Didn't really hear much talk about "team".
Im not saying he is wrong, just saying he is all business.

Clarify your take: he will play next year and then declare for the 2022 draft or he will sit out 2021?

College football is over.

I don't think that it'll be the level of CBB. Just from a physical standpoint, an 18-19 year old can be a solid day 1 starter in the NBA. Physically, a 19 year old in the NFL is not built enough in their body to be ready for that. Sitting out a year and a half as a 19-20 year old college kid as a football player I don't think would be beneficial for the kid.

Yep, with all this opting out and not playing to train, football is slowing starting to become like college basketball. New term will be two and done!

Another variable is the money the NFL is now generating. Is it what it once was? I don’t know if these salaries are sustainable and the effect that will have on college players.

It almost feels like college football is crumbling before our eyes with all of this opt out stuff. I think you'll start seeing players leave very early in their careers and start training professionally for the NFL.
