Will Mingo lose his 4th star.

I really like Mingo's potential. But POTENTIAL is the key word for him and others like Marlon Brown. There talent ceiling is incredible I think that gives the coaches alot to work with and is why they project as high as they do. I saw how Rivals dropped both a good ways. I think with Mingo's inexperience he could be more of a project than any other recruit (enter Williford comments) lol. I have heard similar comments from some other LSU fans. I watched his video at the LSU camp and he looked inexperienced when up against better competition. Who here thinks Mingo may lose his 4 star status and downgrade to a 3 star.
Just to add: I do really like Mingo and really hope he signs with LSU. I just wanted to here others opinions on the matter.

No way. He is still in the Rivals 250 and he'll stay there.

I don't have him ranked as high as anyone else, but you already know that.

i still dont think he has the frame to fill out and be a DE or a rush LB

I'm not as high on him as I am on others...but he is still a great looking prospect. He will need a lot of work at the next level though before he sees the field.

Not a chance.

One Rivals analyst seemed to give the impression that his fourth star will be up for debate. They were not impressed with him at the LSU camp. As a LB, he was getting abused in coverage and they question if he can fill out enough to be a DE in the SEC.

These are the same feelings I was having. I like him for his potential. But he is rated alot further down than others on my list of LB. I just think he is more likely to sign than any of the others with exception to C. Williams.
Bostic
J. Jones
C. Williams
F. Telfort
Monti Teo
N. Johnson

Exactly Lou.
You can even go as far as saying Bostic (Florida) and Jones (Georgia). Though the verdict isnt out just yet on these two and I do like our chances even though we dont lead.
Thats why i hope we get mingo and not someone of lesser talent/skills/potential.

IMO, I don't think we really have a shot with Jones. We're not going to get Bostic either unless he pulls a huge shocker or has an awesome time here and a bad time at UF.

well he is skinny as hell
and obviously can add weight
but i cant see it being good weight...i just think with his height and weight it will be hard to gain good weight and stay as explosive as he is now
I mean just because he is thin, doesnt mean he has a great frame to add weight

The kid is lean as heck, he's not gonna carry around a lot of fat, any weight he puts on should be muscle. It's not as if he's going to be on a high school nutrition plan. He's got a very solid basketball player's build, he has a great frame to add on to.

LB or DE though?
LB or DE though?

Don't know, depends on his comfort and development at LB I guess.

There was a little article in the paper Friday that said Shows had moved Mingo into the inexperienced secondary.

exactly. he'd have to fall a ton to lose his 4th star

IMO, Mingo should go to a mid-major rather than a big time SEC school.
First of all, he will most likely ride the pine for 3 years(red-shirt, then may play less than a dozen plays second yr, may get a little PT in his third yr).
As was mentioned, he doesn't have to frame to take the week after week pounding in the SEC. Plus he has only one year playing organized football.
I have seen it happen time after time. A kid with some potential gets recuited by a big-time school, he gets all star-eyed, recruiters tell him all these story's, and he gets all pumped up and signs up. But in the end after 4 years, he may start in his senior year. Who knows what the player could have developed as at a mid-major.
He could sign with a mid-major and get a lot of PT. He gets the chance to develop his skills and maybe get a shot at the next level.
