The most disturbing thing about the reversed Boutte TD catch

Inn addition to taking six points away from LSU the most disturbing thing about the reversed Boutte TD catch was the official simply said " the pass was incomplete " w2ithout providing an explanation which always occurs when the call on the field is reversed. If it confirms they simply say the ruling on the filed is confirmed. Wonder if he was instructed to make a ruling he did not agree with?
Something seemed off in that whole sequence. There may have been a legitimate reason to overturn the catch but it was not apparent.
Unlike the NFL the receiver does not have retain possession all the way to the ground. Once he has possession with one foot in bounds and crosses the goal line all other factors are irrelevant. The play is over at that point and all other factors are irrelevant,

Yes, the fact that it was incomplete.

You are as informative as the official.

I don’t think you’re right about the rule.

it was an incomplete pass. what don't you understand?
he didn't complete the process and ball was bobbling.

When he gained control of the ball his foot came down on the line. What part are you confused about?

Its common football knowledge, Possession of the football in the end zone is a TD. Play is over both from the stand point of crossing the goal and also having then stepped out of bounds,

Too bad that didn't happen on this play

He wasn't bubbling the ball
The reason it wasn't a catch is because his foot didnt come down in the endzone.
It came down outside the endzone and them he fell over the pylon

He had one foot in bounds. Again, if there was a reason to overturn it was never stated.

He did initially bobble it or else it would have been a catch because his first foot was in bounds. He bobbled it then the next foot was out of bounds.

Before he had control/possession of the ball.

That is always a TD. Happened earlier on the long Aggie TD run.

bullshite it was a catch. Ball should have been spotted at 1/2 yard line.

Was not a catch and here’s the rule. When the ball moved slightly from Boutte’s hand to his body while out of bounds...it became an incomplete pass at that point. He does all that and falls down in the EZ...it’s a touchdown.
“Secures control of a live ball in flight before the ball touches the ground, and touches the ground in bounds with any part of his body, and then maintains control of the ball long enough to enable him to perform an act common to the game, i.e., long enough to pitch or hand the ball, advance it, avoid or ward off an opponent, etc.”
Boutte did not perform an act common to the game before there was movement of the ball while he was falling down and he landed out of bounds.
“If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent) he must maintain complete and continuous control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or in the end zone. This is also required for a player attempting to make a catch at the sideline and going to the ground out of bounds. If he loses control of the ball which then touches the ground before he regains control, it is not a catch. If he regains control inbounds prior to the ball touching the ground it is a catch.”

I wouldn't disagree, but never saw any real concrete video of the ball being bobbled. If that was the call the official should have said it.
