Been duck hunting only a few times. Really want to start going regularly. Past times I’ve used an old Model 1100 that was my grandfather’s. I noticed that it locked up likely due to the cold weather while hunting.

Friends and family that duck hunt recommended brands: Remington, Benelli, Beretta, and Winchester

Obviously since I don’t hunt that often I don’t need the best shotgun ever made but I do want something that is reliable and that will last. I also would prefer to get it in camo.

Would appreciate any recommendations or tips for when I’m searching. Thanks OB!

I have a Winchester 12ga that’s solid. I don’t think any new shotgun will be a problem.

It’s an old pump model not made anymore. Model 120 I bought used. Not an expensive one. Very solidly built. That’s why I think any of the offerings from the major brands will be fine.

I would recommend the Benelli M2. They are nice guns for the price. I shoot a SB3 but you may not want to spend that much on your first duck gun.

Where you located? I'm looking to sell a Benelli Montefeltro 12 gauge (black), if you're interested.

Would definitely be useful information.

My shotgun is a Remington 887, which is an 870 with their "armorlockt" coating that protects it from getting wet (on the outside).

Not a bad gun for about $300, and does the job just fine.

Nothing against the higher end semi-autos, but a gun is only as good as the shooter, and a pump kills ducks just as dead as a semi-auto will.

I use a benneli nova if you are looking for a pump. It's been excellent.

Clean the old 1100. They were great guns.

If you have the money go hold a Benelli and Beretta and choose which one fits best. Both are great.

My preference is for a recoil, or inertia driven action automatic, namely Benelli or Browning. If budget won’t allow for an auto, a good pump action, 3” chamber minimum, is good for waterfowl...

A Remington built in the last 20 yrs is complete shite.

3 Bs
Benelli, Beretta, Browning.

Winchester Is supposed to have a good gun right now as well.

Another I’d recommend is a Franchi.
