And the complete opposite happens. Mom is the only woman that gives a son unconditional love and the dad treats the daughter like a princess. It warps both of the kids views on reality.

I agree with you. A lady I worked with used to say, your same sex parent teaches you your role in life. Your opposite sex parent teaches you your worth. A father should teach his daughter she is worth more than settling for someone that doesn’t treat them right. Same for a mother and son. The problem comes in when the parent is a piece of crap.
