Band of Brothers

Bought the series last night.
How excited should I be? I've never seen it before, but I love history, especially war-type shite.
And I had thought about getting into BoB before, but what pushed me over the edge was that clip someone had posted last week from it (the one about the grandfather/grandson "are you a hero?" thing).
What should I expect...is it all interviews? Reenactments? Clips? Etc..?

You won't be disappointed. Lots of great, recognizable actors are involved, and the battle scenes will be reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan. If I remember correctly, around episode 3 or 4 is when I really got pulled in, so just be patient. Interviews come sporadically, mostly at the end of the series.

it starts off slow and develops the characters very well so be patient. by the end you will be blown away and since you own it, you will no doubt watch it several times

You will be blown away for sure. It's Saving Private Ryan over and over again each episode. That was my experience at least. It was just as deep, filmed in the same manner, for the most part, with just as likable characters.

It will literally change your life. I have so much more respect for WW2 vets now. It is brilliantly portrayed. IMO better than saving privat ryan because the series goes so much further than just fighting. Alot of the episodes are not battles but just about the soldiers.
ETA: Read the book also. Great read.

I agree with this 100%. I found the book much better that the series. And I thought the series was awsome.

Reading his memoirs were particularly hard at times because it seems like one though after another being strung together that didn't really fall into place. Jumped back and forth a lot, almost like his editors didn't give a damn about the flow of the book.

Awesome.
So it's like little mini-movies, based on real events, with interviews and shite mixed in?

That's likely not gonna happen.

There are short interviews with the real members or Easy Company in the begining of each episode. They are about 1 minute long, but some of my favorite quotes come from them.

So Sobel is a douche, and is played by David Schwimmer. Sounds about right.
I'm pumped to watch this shite. I don't think I've ever heard a bad thing about this series.

yeah exactly - and after you have seen the whole thing, go back and watch it again and pay closer attention to the interviews because you will have a better appreciation for who they are and what they went through
