I’m pretty sure the tax appraisals on their houses are a fraction of their true market value. They hire private security patrols and live in the Audubon Place compound, if possible.

They aren’t really affected by the crime, streets, public schools because it’s all they’ve ever known. If they moved to a “better” city, they’d lose their social standing.

Wrong. The Orleans assessor has been targeting many of them for multiple years in a row, assessing their homes for much more than they are worth. Like, as high as 60% to over 100% more than what they're worth.

Also wrong on the crime. I have friends in some of those private security districts and the shite that has happened around Audubon Park and Garden District is insane, even with private security patrolling. Criminals target those neighborhoods and they are becoming more brazen every year.

The younger ones live elsewhere and only come back to ride in parades or present their daughters at debutante balls. The older ones are too old to care any more

This is not true at all. The majority of the LGD and Uptown on the SE side of Carrolton are still under-assessed.

They don't want to. It behooves the bank accounts of the Old Money crowd to keep the status quo and help incompetent and corrupt politicians get elected to public office.
