When is an announcer going to mention that the advancements to the pool and swimsuits are the main reason a World Record is set in almost every event?

The previous record holders must be getting pissed they didn't get to compete in such a speed friendly pool and zero friction swimsuits.

The pool is deeper and there is more room to the outside of the end lanes which reduces the waves and makes the pool faster, FWIW.

Also the racing suits with the LZR technology help.

Pretty sure the pool doesn't have shite to do with anything. The fastskins on the other hand are a different matter

this is not some revolutionary pool, it's the same as all of the other pools that host international meets.

He focuses on the design of the pool, which discourages turbulence and encourages speed.

"I'm talking about deep water," Gaines explains. "It's a perfect depth because if it's too deep, you lose your sense of vision and where you're at in the pool. But it's just deep enough to where the waves dissipate (and) the turbulence dissipates down to the bottom."

The Water Cube pool also has 10 lanes instead of eight. Waves churned up during races don't bounce back into the swimming lanes. Waves that reach the sides are siphoned off by perforated gutters.

They mentioned that on NBC nightly news. The swim team besides coaches consist of scientists.

ok, ok. swimmers are simply carried along by the magical powers of this swimming pool. you win.

ETA- I know it makes a difference, I just don't think that it's as big a deal as everybody makes it out to be.
