Shipping alcohol into Louisiana

I was recently notified by an online retailer that I regularly order booze from that they are no longer allowed to ship to Louisiana due to new laws/regs. Anyone familiar with this?

My Mom gets a case of wine she likes shipped to her about once a month. She just got a delivery a few weeks ago.

Interesting. My (very amateur) understanding is that you can't get things shipped directly from the maker of the spirit/wine, but you can buy from secondhand retailers.
I say this because I have never been able to ship wine home while visiting wineries in California (except for one that didn't care about the rules), but I've never had an issue ordering from wine clubs and wine tasting companies. My assumption was that this had to do with our distributer racket.
I certainly hope retail isn't out now too. I see you say this is a new thing, so it could be something that recently passed.. but I haven't heard.

It's possible they meant new laws/regs in the state they're located in?
There's a brewery (Trillium) that just started shipping UPS package orders recently but due to laws in MA they can't ship to anywhere outside the state.

Last time I looked at it, there is a (or was) a prohibition that a winery, say, if they had a distributorship in Louisiana could not also ship directly to customers in Louisiana. A few states have that. So for instance say you go to Jordan winery, they cant ship from the winery to you, but have to go through a middle man shipper or you run that errand.

You are correct. Some wineries ship directly to us while some we have to ship to a family member in Texas and then we pick up there.

It’s not a new law, they just got caught or decided to start following it. You can only have wine shipped into LA that is not distributed in LA. That’s it, as told to me directly by an ATC agent.
