Parents don’t have a handbook for dealing with suspected domestic abuse. But coaches and administrators do.

Parents don’t have the ability to bring in witnesses for mandatory interviews to gather evidence. But coaches and administrators do.

Parents aren’t state employees, or paid representatives of the university. Coaches and administrators are.

And this is the problem with where we are today as a whole.

Univstieries shouldn't have that kind of control. They shouldn't be judge, juries, and executioners. Because now you see how much bureaucracy is involved and failings.

Domestic abuse and rape should be handled solely by the police.

the victim's credibility and behavior did more to undermine this investigation than LSU's incompetence.

It’s very telling that so many people liked this post immediately with no knowledge that you’re actually incorrectly referencing the victim in the Guice situation and not this situation. They just assumed you were right without any details

Were the tennis coaches told to act the way they did or are they just horrible people?

I honestly don’t see this mattering at this point.

Of course it matters. If the tennis coach acted independently, that's embarrassing, but it's hardly an indictment of the university. If several coaches and administrators were involved then the AD should have known about it, and he's either corrupt or incompetent, and LSU is guilty as an institution.

Is it? Or is it a big red flag on the credibility of the coaches?

The validity of the allegations are irrelevant. The issue here is that the process was not followed. Coaches and admins are mandatory reporters under the Title IX law. The law REQUIRES them to report any allegations made to the Title IX office. The coach/admin is not allowed to investigate or otherwise subjectively weigh in on the validity of the allegations before deciding to report them. They only have one mandatory duty —-report any allegations made. The next step is for the Title IX office to timely investigate the allegations , as well as notify the accused student of the allegations. It appears that LSU personnel failed to meet either of these obligations (report and timely investigate). It does not appear that football coaches have any involvement with any of this. They can only act after Title IX has done their thing. It looks like the failure to follow the process is going to take down a few folks in the AD, Title IX office and Tennis program.

"Gossip"? Davis was arrested & confessed. Her father, who lives in New Zealand as I read it, has phone & text records verifying his daughter's version. She also has several teammates who back her up. There is at least one photo of the bruises on her stomach. As for with holding money, pretty sure that, being from New Zealand, she was on full scholarship, which covers room & board. Is it safe to assume that criminal laws in New Zealand are different than criminal laws here? People here in La. are well versed in civil & criminal law. People there probably not near as much?

You calling someone else a child having a tantrum and reading the way you’ve conducted yourself in this thread is ironic on some amazing levels

Same. My father cut off both my sister and me for not respecting his will at around that age. I guess that's not a popular approach these days though

Cutting you off got you to do what he wanted? STFU

Davis is trash. Guice is trash. LSU recruited trash on campus at the expense of real students.

eta: is there a link to the entire story from her side other than what USA today has?

She was on a full tennis scholarship. His money meant nothing

So, you have faulted this father who spoke with police, spoke with coaches, spoke with LSU officials, who flew from Nz and begged her to leave, but your brilliant idea that would have you not questioning him at all would be to cut off your daughter who is being physically abused

No

She hasnt been willing to talk to a soul. Now that Julia Sell basically brought her out into the public, I can imagine every news source is trying to get to her

The father once would have taken care of the situation. Old ways were good ones. Davis and Guice would have been handled.

It’s a sad day in hell when we kick players off the team for failing drug test but do anything to cover up sexual abuse inside the program. No one in that Athletics Building should have a job if they have any type of knowledge of the situation. They should be permanent banned from LSU and any player that is found guilty should have their history removed from LSU

This is what happens when you let west coast, progressive elitists and their ideology infiltrate your campus and university.

LSU has needed a major reset for a while. Hopefully this will bring that.

However, LSU needs a better PR director right now to squash some of this #metoo, BLM, and other virtue signaling piling on that's happening in the press right now.

What the frick is wrong with you?

Disregarding your mention of BLM and virtue signaling, both of which have nothing to do with the topic at hand, this is not #metoo.

These are 4 student athletes who were dismissed by their coach when they were brave enough to speak up about sexual abuse.

Obviously we don't know if this is true, and we don't know the circumstances, but the last thing LSU should be thinking about is press. How about the fact that they have a serious problem on their hands. Not a legal or public image problem, but an ethical issue.

This is bad. As more people come forward, this approaches the level of Baylor. I don't care if LSU goes 0-12 and loses every game 60 to 0, I will always wear my LSU gear. But how the administration responds to this will say everything about the caliber of their institution.

All of what you said is correct except LSU may have a big legal issue on its hands too.
