Is your neighborhood safe enough to sleep with the doors unlocked?

Woke up and forgot to lock both the front and back door. Slept easy knowing we live in a great area. Usually have house moms up jogging when I leave for work at 5am also. Couldn’t do this in a place like New Orleans for example. Would be robbed blind and possibly killed

Correct!

Yes, but I'd still rather not.

I live 25 miles in any direction to the nearest Walmart. I would say my area is pretty safe but I still lock the doors.

Of course it is. Gated and monitored security 24/7.

Could I do that in my neighborhood? Yes
Would I? Nope

Yes, but I don’t. I do occasionally accidentally leave the garage door open and I don’t keep the door to the garage locked. And sometimes after grilling forget to lock the deck door.
So yes, sometimes I do.

I don't think I would have any problems leaving my doors unlocked, however I don't want to risk it. I actually installed the push code locks on all my doors so they automatically lock after 30 seconds. makes my wife feel safer when she's home and I'm at the camp. that and she stole my lab that now sleeps in my spot when I'm not home instead of coming to the camp with me. lol

There's not much crime in my neighborhood but you don't have to go far to find it

Most people would say "no," since I'm pretty close to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Murder Trail (I-20). That said, I doubt there are many criminal masterminds whose M.O. is to walk around town trying doorknobs in the middle of the night.

Always unlocked. The dog holds down the fort.

But why?

Probably, we left the front door ajar once when out of town for a week and it was fine

Locking doors just stop the honest thieves

I believe my neighborhood to be safe. That being said, I don't see a single reason to test that out.

Yep. I've accidentally left the garage open to go into town 2 or 3 times and nothing ever happens. Just the other day, my wife was in a hurry to get to work and didn't close the front door all the way. It was cracked open about 2 inches when I got home. She left the back door unlocked as well.
NOW, we'd never do it on purpose but it's nice to know that's the kind of area we live in

I haven’t locked my doors in at least 15 years
