did anyone else try that Amex Platinum Concierge thing? I think I will give it a shot tomorrow and if they cant find it I will just wait till sometime next year to get one. Not going to gouge myself...I have plenty of games to play through.

I think I found a new console here in Nola (I got mine a couple weeks back) if anyone is looking. Going to find out how much they are selling it for but will update tomorrow

That was me and it did not work. They assured me they could find it for market price. I felt like I had the hookup and it was a done deal. Two days later I get a call saying retailers do not have any available and it’s not offered by their partners. I could check resale but they don’t do that for you (obviously).
I ended up getting mine like every other clown through GameStop.

I'm starting to think that Sony is forcing the scarcity here with not enough supply for the demand.
Sony more than likely is bullshitting us about how they didn't foresee the huge demand, are surprised by it and didn't make enough by launch day.
They had the ability and resources to produce enough supply, they just didn't want to.

This is exactly what Rolex does that makes them so desirable. A Rolex is the same quality as an Omega but Rolex only makes a set number of watches vs making what the market demands. If you make it rarer more people will want to buy it.

No tin foil hat needed this is precisely what SONY did. They have probably known for years what the demand would be. It is now the talk of Christmas season, amazing free advertising from huge sources that never discuss gaming. Parents and average gamers will now jump at a chance to buy when they can even if they were unsure before this process.

At the same time, I bet the person responsible for figuring out where to draw the line for the artificial shortage didn't do the stay-at-home math right when figuring out how to come in just shy of demand.
