If brennan doesnt play ,which appears to be the case, I'm assuming we go to tj .I feel like hes got the most upside of the two.

The better QBs against Bama have proven those with more mobility

I would start him. He was decent against Auburn until the pick. Johnson was a pleasant surprise but TJ is more physically ready IMO

I would think so.

Caveat: It was his first game....without any prep for being the starter...in garbage time...

but I was a little bit less impressed with Johnson than I though I would be. Particularly his arm strength. He looked very mechanical, almost Danny Etling like. That's not to say he can't be a good player or that LSU can't win with him, but Finley's physical skill might give him a bit more upside at the moment.

Neither are going to be perfect right now. I just think Finley can make more big throws at the moment.

Start him and if he looks bad you put in Max, that's about all of the options we have right now!

If yall all agree then why the downvotes? Are there some that want max to start? I just dont think hes physically ready and his running ability doesnt outweigh the lack of big play ability. At least with tj you know he can drive the ball 20 yards on a rope accurately across the middle.

He throws that deep over or deep dig beautifully . His ints was a tipped ball and an overthrow on an out or slant or some short outside route. But even against Auburn, he drove the ball down the middle pretty good a few times

That might be a little unfair to Max considering the other two guys that have played QB for LSU this year have elite arm strength. He may be just the guy coming out of the bullpen throwing 91-92 after the first two guys were throwing 97-98. Still fast and effective but not elite.

Are you trying to say finley or max is more mobile?

Not sure TJ did fine against poor defense but was exposed against Awburn, Max had really little chance to perform. Its a hard choice as they are both freshman. Who ever doesn't start Im afraid of the transfer portal. I would like a chance to be a MAX fan just a feeling.

If we can’t get some semblance of a run game, I’m not sure it’ll matter

Gunna get a bunch of downvotes but I think with these young guys we need a two QB system like leak and tebow and rotate guys out after a series or in a situation they do not Excell in. Script a series of plays for both QBs. When one guy is out have other QB on sideline getting new series down. When new qb goes in minimize substitutions to damn near nil. Let's him get to line of scrimmage fast and have whole play clock to shift formation around and ID what is manned up in who on defense. Also run some truck plays or wildcat with max in at WR or something so that defense can't have chance to shift in dudes maybe get bama to waste a TO.

Need to figure out how to get easy passes and ball out of QB hands fastest we have had this year. We have athletes despite what everyone thinks just have to figure out a counter to bamas DLine advantage.

Offense will have to play near mistake free and fast.
Defense can hopefully come up with 2+ turn overs. They will be feast or famine I hope.

I want to see both QBs personally so if tj starts and I don't see Max I'll be upset. If I see Max and don't see tj I'll be disappointed.

Tj had 1 week of qb competition florida-usc and 1 week of exclusive starter reps for aubie. So idk what rights answer for two weeks prep but I think they need to idk best plays for both players and let them let it all hang out.

Would like to see some reps with max in the right situation he can provide an advantage same as tj can with his arm strength and ability to start strong in pocket.

Negative. You play the kid that can create on his own with his feet and throw on the run. Want to guess who that is? He may not have the arm of Finley but arm strength is often overrated.

Not hating on Finley as I think he has played decently for a true frosh but what "big throws" has he made? He has mostly thrown slants and 10 yard in routes on dagger concepts.

The only deep throw either freshman has completed was the garbage time TD from Johnson to Boutte.

Again not hating, I just don't know where this narrative of Finley making all the throws is coming from. Does he have the ability? Yes. Has he shown he can do it? No.

Max...the rest of this year and the next two years.

Did y'all not notice the trust the coaches have in Max vs TJ...and Brennan? They went 5 wide and didn't do the Meerkat Formation where everyone looks back at the sideline.

Get used to Max...plus his brother is a stud tightend.

Finley hit a couple big ones against USCe just saying.
