But Iowa voters won't be able to cast their ballot at any of those polling places this Election Day, due to hundreds of closures and consolidations that have rippled across the state due to the coronavirus pandemic.
quote:
"That's just the reality. Insufficient poll workers means less polling places," said Joel Miller, the top election official in Linn County, the state's second largest.
Miller has closed or consolidated 37% of his polling places this year.

Bad headline is bad.
Some polling locations to close.

First real voter suppression since 1964...

I wonder which precincts they are in?

Since the 2016 general election, Iowa has lost 261 polling places, according to an analysis by the Center for Public Integrity, Stateline and NPR. The polling place changes vary across the state; while some counties are able to keep all of their sites open, others must close or consolidate half.
quote:
Overall, this affects some 670,000 Iowans, 30% of the state's registered voters. Those affected by the changes overwhelmingly live in the state's urban areas, which reliably vote Democratic. And the closures are happening at a time of multiple competitive races in the state, including the presidential contest.
Picture of Linn County. Red closed or relocated, yellow are new, gray are unchanged.

I don't care the leaning of anywhere this happens. It's ridiculous and unacceptable.

Meh, mine is closed I will vote about 8 blocks away in a larger school, big deal.

Totally unacceptable. This is actual voter suppression and unconstitutional.
Open them up. This isn’t a partisan issue.

If you can go to Walmart, you can go
Vote in person.
They should be ashamed for closing precincts . This is malarkey

You left off the first part.
261 polling places have closed in the state since the general election in 2016 affecting 30% of the voters. That 670,000 number is not all affected by covid closings.
At least be honest.

They combined 3 precincts in my area into one larger school, oh the huge manatee of it all. Old ladies that work the precincts are scared and don't want to volunteer.

Should be familiar to Dems in Iowa given how badly the party fricked up the caucus.
