I think it's overpriced for what you're getting. But the problem is everyone wants a bike now with Covid lockdowns and gym closures. So a lot of stuff has become very expensive . Maybe it will come down when the cold weather hits.

Just be aware that the Diverge is a gravel bike. You can ride it on the road with no issue, but it's not a "total road bike" if that's a deal breaker for you. The Allez would be the road model in your price range if you want Specialized.

Damn gravel bikes. Ive been a GT guy for 40 years but they don't make a true road bike anymore, just an insepid gravel bike.

The Allez is a great entry level road bike.

I’d shop a bit before pulling that trigger.

That's the problem. Inventory is very low and most aren't getting anything until next year. Still going to look around, but pickings are slim and prices are up.

Odd, inventory is up around here. Not 100% but LBS’s have shopping stock.

Mandeville. Local Trek shop had a dozen to 20 bikes. The Scott shop also had a dozen to 20.

I ended up buying a used one for $375 from someone in my neighborhood. Not the best brand overall, but looks to be in good condition and only a few years old. I have a friend that repairs/sales bikes as a hobby/side job and will have him go over it. This should at least get me going. Thanks for all the advice. I look forward to getting out, riding, and having fun.

Motobecane is a fine brand. Enjoy it! Believe me, you're about to learn about the n+1 rule.

Well done. Nothing wrong with a Moto. Ride the crud out of that bike and enjoy.

Just got back from my first ride. A friend ride over to check out my bike and we did about 8 miles. Not too bad for having zero gear and just being in/around my neighborhood. Definitely need to get some safety gear, shoes, and shorts. My butt and feet hurt.

Got all my gear today: helmet, shirt, shorts, shoes, gloves, air pump for the house and one to keep on the bike, pouch to hold crap (extra tube, patch kit, things to take tire off of the time), and water bottle.

Total amount paid for bike and accessories is just under $900.

The bike shop made an adjustment because it wasn't shifting to the larger front sprocket. They said it looked good overall otherwise and didn't charge me anything.

Make sure you have a good bike fit. I have a 30 year old bicycle that I feel fine on after 1 to 2 hours. No fancy shorts or fancy saddle, I just spent a lot of time learning how to fit the bicycle to me.

One thing to consider adding to your list of riding accessories...

Glasses. I get crap in my eyes riding when I forget them. You don't have to go crazy and get the latest Oakley Tour de France commemoratives. I found some Tifosi glasses that work for me that were like $40. Ordered from their website but they're on Amazon too. I'm old so they have the benefit of having some with bi-focal lenses to make it easier to see any bike computer/phone you ride with.

Nope not especially. I sometimes ride with some Costa fishing glasses if that’s what is in the car.
