quote:

Call 911.
The only information the 911 dispatcher needs to know is:
- What assistance is needed;
- Your name and the location of the emergency;
- What you look like/are wearing; and
- That you have been the victim of a crime

My plan would be to have 911 already on the line before I act, if possible. That way, I’ve got a witness that at least hears everything that’s going on. The forensics of the scene can back up the rest.

I’m talking in the event of a home invasion, that is.

Is it okay to talk to the police like Dirty Harry? “Yeah, I shot the bastard. That’s MY policy!”

Good info. This is the exact information given during any concealed carry class.

What about look for any surveillance cameras in the vicinity and take out the evidence?

Pretty much word for word what I was advised to do via my CCP class.

quote:

Do not make any statements to the dispatcher about what happened (e.g., “I’ve just shot an intruder”).

You do not have to stay on the line with the 911 dispatcher (they’ll ask you to do so).

This is where most people mess up.

Tell them you've been a victim of a crime and nothing more then hang up before you hang yourself.

Lawyers can turn innocent comments or even voice tones into literally Hitler.

Also - Don't put yourself in unnecessary or avoidable situations. Don't go looking for trouble.

I’m a tad confused about the 9 downvotes in the OP.
Nothing was political.
Nothing was religious.
No one group was singled out.
The information was for all.

In our house, we’re currently preparing for the aftermath.
Hoping all y’all are doing the same—though the after effects of personal defense are important year-round.
