Got an update from friend whose daughter attends:

"so this is getting worse. It's not at all what I thought. I just spoke with a parent of a junior whom we are very close to. It is all very confusing. Her daughter did not stand for the BLM anthem when it was played and the lady who was speaking stopped and mentioned they should have stood. This daughter said they did not know the anthem nor dd they know they were supposed to stand for it and were not trying to be disrespectful. This sounds to me like the admin feels like the girls were not taking it seriously so they are taking a step back to see how they can correct the attitudes (of the students). I could be wrong (I hope am.)

I hope all of you with children at the school stop giving them a dime. That school has quietly turned into a liberal haven over the last decade. There is a lot of indoctrination happening in those classrooms.

When Bill Burr talks about white women moving to the front of the line in the “woke” movement, he’s talking about these students and alumni.

100% incorrect above about the BLM statement, you may want to have your friend talk to his daughter about being honest.

I have a Jr. and Sr., both got the kool-aid talk this week, yes I am furious, but no there was NO BLM anthem. Hysterical how these things blossom.

SJA brought all this on themselves with the need last spring to make an unprovoked social statement. It's been one step after another into a hole, and it's deep now. they can't win and just need to focus on educating the young ladies of SJA for a while. Damn shame.

Every time there is a Baton Rouge school thread on the OT , the Catholic school parents rush in to tell me and other “public school poors “ how crucial the moral instruction their kids receive is to them.

Indeed.

Out of curiosity, has the school said anything in response to all the back lash? I’m certain you’re not the only parent fuming.

Yep. They sent an outline that glosses completely over the actual content. And no mention to the girls about using social media responsibly, and that situation is what led to them having this leadership summit in the first place. I have a daughter who attended the summit and the OP’s post is accurate. They did in fact advise the girls to apply to community college in lieu of major universities. It was confusing and made no sense,

I am not catholic so I don't look to the catholic school my kid goes to for morals. I put them in private because BR public schools aren't the safest and it is hard to argue (out side of BRMHS) that the education is the same or better than private.

My daughter told me that the woman leading the summit did sing the BLM anthem. When she finished singing it, she said something along the lines of, “you all should know that this is the black national anthem and that you should stand when singing it.” She said it wasn’t as dramatic as some have described though.

Have you ever tried to convince a female, a teenage female at that, to "think critically"? That's gas on a fire.

THIS was the underlying concern I had after hearing the story (see previous post for details).

The girls described a HUGE cultural groupthink against conservatism. The two that transferred out were critical thinker types.

I think you nailed it.

Oh I get it. I’ve just received dozens of condescending comments over the years from private school parents who specifically cite moral instruction when I say my kids went the magnet route. As if my kids are really getting anything different from this culture than their kids are other than a weekly mass and some bible study. And as if at age 18 they all don’t go out into the same Marxist- worshipping larger culture where everything you’ve taught them isn’t immediately under assault.

Right. My daughter said that this did happen, so not sure if poster above’s daughters maybe missed this or didn’t know what the woman was singing?

Y’all really thought SJA was going to tell it’s white students to think about going to community colleges?

Unfortunately not a lie, and yes they did tell the students to consider community college.

Yep.

Paying 14K a year to go to community college. Who thought this was a good thing to say? Was this from the lady leading the conversation?

per a first-hand account This was not stated or a point made at the presentation. It was at best an off-handed comment made by one presenter in the middle of a word salad discussion. Mainly discussion of "white privilege" and "systemic racism," but it was completely disorganized and was a terrible presentation and waste of time.
This seemed like the most obvious occurrence from the start

To correct disparity caused by generational wealth, the white kids should consider going to a community college instead of a 4 year university to make room for minorities.

I mean, doing core classes at a community college for two years is financially smart, but to don't to make room for minorities is fricking asinine.
