Most people become addicted off of legal opipoids prescriptions

It most definitely isn't. You're retarded if you think it is.

My state pays probably well into the hundreds of millions or more of dollars a year in billboards, TV ads, magazine spots, radio cuts, etc about opiates

I dont think I have gone more than a few days without hearing or seeing a public service announcement about them.

Doesnt change a single thing

Imagine that, keeping people from each other is skyrocketing suicides and overdoses.

I've never thought of it as an option, but I will say I've spiraled multiple times since this all happened and I'm fricking miserable 80% of the time.

Pretty much nailed it although there's certainly problems with doctor's over prescribing opiods which turns to addictions.

We also need to send addicts to rehabs and not jails. The addict is still going to be an addict when he gets released although now he might be in a gang or turned to a violent criminal during his jail time.

A lot of the opiod problems can be cut down with marjiuana legalization as marijuana can do wonders with pain and unlike opiods it's not highly addictive nor can you OD on it

Around here it takes almost an act of god to get an addict in jail for more than a couple days.

Its a myth that they just get locked up right away for years and it ruins them.

No the problem is that after a few DUIs, another DUI reduced, a few treatment in lieu of conviction holds, etc they end up actually running into someone on the road with their nonexistant license or committing a violent felony. While they have drugs on them and high.

A surge in degenerate junkies killing themselves? My heart breaks.

Do you feel the same about people who suffer from alcoholism? I think it’s very un -Christian to have this little sympathy for people.

So they never talk about the opioid/opiate/heroin epidemic and the overdoses that come from IV drug use? Those poor drug addicts who OD are ignorant to the facts.

It has only been a staple of the news cycle since the 80's. But yeah, you're right. They don't talk about it. There hasn't been tens of 1,000's of news stories, interviews, documentaries, news specials, etc. mentioned about it.

That part is true, but addicts and junkies are not. They know the dangers involved. They choose to do it anyway.

When you live with horrendous pain, or face the horrors of withdrawals, it's not a simple matter of self control.

That's right. But you can absolutely get sober. There are ways to get sober. It's not something that a person has to live in. And you're right about it not being about self control. I've been sober for 15 years now by the way, so I know what I'm talking about.
