Help needed - dinged up rental car in Mexico

I backed into a boulder on the side of the road while parking uphill in Puerto Vallarta. It left a dent (pictured) on the back rear of the rental car that I am 100% sure they will notice b/c they were pretty thorough on the outtake process.
The good news is that we were in a hurry to get on the road and start our vacation so I didn't haggle at the counter and let him convince me to buy the full insurance package for $300.
Hopefully the fact that we have that coverage will cover everything, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't call National corporate in America or my credit card company to get their advice prior to returning the car?
Also wondering if we shouldn’t get there an extra 30 minutes early in case they try to extort us and worry about missing our flight so that we overpay?

That picture is so zoomed in I cant tell how big it is, but yes they will 100% notice that.
Have you looked at your rental insurance to see the details and what you are supposed to do? I'd do that?
I got hit with a rental in England and my CC that I purchased it with covered it all 100%. It was as easy of a process as I could have expected. I had to pay for it up front but then was refunded. Not sure what would have happened if it was more than the $1000 that mine was.

No I haven’t - I suppose I can do that tonight but we’re about to go on a chartered boat tour so I’m going to be so tired when I get back. Then we leave tomorrow

It was a mostly soft boulder.

Chase Sapphire Reserve covers you for any rental you made with the card.

You and I have very different definitions of “dinged up”.

Your credit card company will not cover you if you accepted the rental companies insurance. If you bought the full coverage you literally hand them the keys and walk away. I did something similar in Italy. They called it the throw the keys at us and walk away insurance.

Not if you purchase insurance through the rental agency.

We are not your mom, tell us what really happened?

I thought they changed this though because people literally fricked the cars up and didn't care? Like there's a deductible now or something of that nature?

Grabbeth thy ankles mate.

Look it up but I thought I remember reading that the National chains don’t operate the same in Mexico when it comes to rental cars. Be prepared to get fricked.

Could be a deductible but that’s much better than being responsible for car repairs in a foreign county, right?

Some of you idiots that downvote correct information need to stop. It’s childish and it doesn’t help a person in need.
From the Sapphire Reserve rental benefits page.

Thanks mates - they didn’t say anything and ran the card for the agreed amount of $309 ($200 of which was the insurance) and that was it. We hopped in the van to go to the airport. I won’t be shocked to see another charge come through but fingers crossed that we got lucky.
Thanks for the advise - I did a pretty good job not letting worry cast a damper on the trip too

Of course its absolutely better. I don't know what the rules are now. I just don't think you can pay the $50/ day or whatever and cause $10,000 in damage and have no worry at all. I may be wrong though. I don't think its a lot by any means.
Hopefully OP updates us to let us know.
