Harbaugh...this can't be good for recruiting, think he's looking to get back to the NFL?

Jim Harbaugh confirmed Monday he still hasn’t signed a contract extension, meaning he will enter this season as the only Power Five coach with fewer than two years remaining on his deal. Harbaugh said in the summer that a new agreement was being negotiated earlier this year, but that those discussions had been tabled since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

Harbaugh explained in July the contract wasn’t high on the priority list. And on Monday he maintained that was still the case.

“Just other fish, bigger fish to fry,” he said.

NFL?
For all the successes he had before, by Year 4 everyone in the entire organization (players, front office, ownership) was over him. He lost that team in record time.

He's already at his tailor-made job where he can do his weird rah-rah thing and it's not working out.

Let's also not forget that in SF he was handed a loaded roster that had no business underachieving to the extent that they did. Any team willing to make him an NFL offer is likely in far worse shape than the 2011 Niners.

Oh and there's also the thing about not being a particularly useful offensive mind. He was fortunate to catch lightning in a bottle for a little while with 2012/13 Kaepernick and Greg Roman. So between mediocre coaching and a history of alienating everyone around him, to be honest I'm not sure what he offers any NFL franchise.

I have nothing against the guy and am tremendously grateful for his service with the red and gold but I don't think he would have a prayer of successfully leading a team through an actual rebuild.

He’s the most overrated coach of the 2000s.

I don't know why he can do what he did at San Diego and Stanford but is fricking up at Michigan.

Maybe he's just old now and the NFL broke him a little bit.

He came into Stanford a complete arse...talking shite and made the biggest turnaround in CFB history.

Have they been in contract talks? I was under the impression hasn’t offered past this season.

Michigan’s best offensive player opted out of the season a few days ago. This year is gonna be rough on Michigan with what they lost last year

He's not a good college coach.

Someone will give him an NFL job.

NFL is just about your job and worrying about losing it. Coaches don't have to be your pal or friend (see Belichick) and it really doesn't matter if they like you.

But College is about a connection with players...and it seems Harbaugh's personality or Aspergers rubs kids the wrong way...they just don't seem to respond to him.

Stanford it might've worked because they recruit self-motivated kids who might respond to quirky intellect...Stanford got the smart try-hard guys who would play for anyone...it's a different story with coddled 5-stars.
