My buddy had a traeger and loved it so I thought I’d get myself a pellet grill as I was in the market after selling my old green egg to a friend.

So, I purchased a pit boss pro pellet grill. Works great except for having the occasional burnout. Basically the pellets dropping onto a smoldering fire and then it kills the heat and the temp begins to drop.

For those of you with pellet grills do you run into this problem and how do you remedy it? I don’t want to have to clean the ash out after every cook but that seems to work. Is there potentially an issue with my auger/starter?

Camp chef woodwind here. Thrilled with mine and never have that issue, and love my sidekick with Pizza oven, griddle and grill box attachments.

Definitely the best grill I have ever owned

I had it happen the first time I used my pit boss. Has not happened since, and that includes some 14+ hour smokes.

Did it throw a random code on the screen before it did that?

I had it happen once, but cleaned the burn pot and it has happened since. I have also been bringing it up to temp a little slower from smoke to 200 then to 250 then 300, and then setting the temp for the cook.

I have a traeger pro 780 and I haven't had 1 problem. I also do vacuum it out almost every use. Did you prime the auger/smoker after assembly (refer to your owners manual)? I belong to quite a few groups on social media and its amazing how many people I see having problems w pellet grills. Even more incredible how many I've seen engulfed in flames.
