Love how the article says that racist white banks won’t loan people of color money. Maybe it’s because no one is going to loan money to someone with a credit score of 402. It will be interesting to see what the rate of default will be at this bank.

That sounds like something my mom might have done back then though. It's amazing that they don't have a simple formula in place to check for this though.

It’s actually a pretty ingenious idea if they can get a business model together. If it’s black owned and can for the large part help the black community by assisting them in building trust and hopefully credit, I’m all for it.
There’s going to be some incredible fricking for a good portion of them though. You can’t target a market that has a history of bad credit and poor banking and not have a method to make money in a non traditional banking method.

In the mid 80s when I was 8? We pretty much used all cash back then. I can't think of a reason I'd have been on my parent's cards, if they even had one.
My dad would have donated a kidney to me before he gave me access to a credit line he had open back then.
